Over all it was just a pay check, not really a place to grow.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsOne of the better reasons to work at Bellevue, is the vacation you receive. Also the benefits are very good as well. However I was a lucky employee and got on real well with my coworkers and learned a great deal about construction.

ConsThere is no real room to grow. The ability to get promotions is limited in the trades field. Upper management needs to be restructured.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop hiring so many people to do the same thing. Also learn to do your job and don't be asking your subordinates how to do your job for you the right way. Not all management is like this, however restructuring is needed.

    Communication is lacking
Its obvious racial tension amongst different groups
    Expectations are low

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be stronger leadership at bellevue with accountability for actions people need to start being held responsible for there actions.

Extreme Micro-Management with Unqualified Adminsitrators That Have Been Grandfathered Into Their Positions.

    Social Worker (Current Employee)

    ProsCity Job with good benefits
    Union Representation
    Pension Plan

ConsManagment micromanages, they're non-supportive, non-receptive to ideas, and some are unqualified.
Management does not educate staff of their employee rights
Management loves to overuse the terms, "I'm giving you directives"
Managment plays psychological games by saying, "That was your perception"

Advice to Senior ManagementLighten up, stop scrutinizing staff's every move. If you hired them, then you should trust them to carry out the job.
Support your staff as much as you would to keep your own job safe.
Educate employees about their rights, for example use of FMLA if they are out sick to much instead of writing them up.
Stop acting like the employee's pay is coming out of your money. We all get paid by taxpayers, not you.

Many employees are frustrated and dissatisfied with pay and promotions.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsApply if you have connections, and a GED. You will do great !

ConsExperience, education, knowledge have no value. Many Executive Directors have a High School Diploma only, and will promote relatives. Most job positions are determined prior to interview process. No room for advancement

    Advice to Senior ManagementGood luck.
