Pros
Easy money and good balance between work and study
Cons
Hard to work with college students
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
make yours own schedule, flexible hours, great compensation if you work hard
lets you meet new people, very informal and young
Cons
motivate yourself, no real senior management or guidance, all compensation is on commission, hard to move up to executive structure from salesman position
Pros
1. Awesome opportunity as a college student to make $500+ during finals week if you are willing to put in the significant work and smart use of your time
2. You provide a great alternative to friends on campus wanting to sell their books who are tired of getting ripped off by the bookstore
3. This job is a great resume booster which only takes one week to complete
4. Tons of flexibility (job is commission based so you get out of your work what you put into it)
5. Great experience for a go-getter, work on marketing and sales skills
Cons
Working for Belltower Books is significant work, and you do not make the good money unless you are dedicated and willing to go "all out" buying back books during finals week. If you are seriously committed to making money, this job is for you. On the other hand, this job is not for the timid or those scared of hard work.
Advice to Senior Management
The only thing that Belltower Management should improve is their scanner technology. The scanners are impressive, but at times the scanners can be glitchy which makes buying back books more difficult (must type in ISBNs).
Pros
Compensation is based on commission and performance based bonuses.
There is flexibility in method and schedule (you make your own schedule).
Great opportunity to showcase entrepreneurial vision and work ethic- figuring out best ways to market and improve sales, managing team of buyers and basically running the show.
Easy to track progress. Candy on the resume.
Cons
Books are heavy- but luckily the heavier textbooks usually cost more which means more money in your pocket.
Advice to Senior Management
Automatically providing past sales numbers to lower management allows for benchmarks and improvement targets to be set up easily on each campus.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Pros
Fast money earning opportunity with the ability to create schedule and you make what you put into the job and performance.
Cons
As soon as the season is over for buying books, they drop you and you never hear from them again until it is time to get paid.
Advice to Senior Management
The management needs to stay in touch with campus managers to plan better ideas for the next selling season and spread campus awareness
Pros
It allowed me to connect with people on campus. I was able to meet several different people and have many opportunities to buy back books from many different people.
Cons
Most of the books were not worth much and the rate for commission seemed low. I was not compensated for gas money.
