ProsWork on your own schedule, work alone or with a team

ConsYou go around holding alot of money on you buying students books. If you get robbed or lose the money yo are still responsible for replacing it and you get back a small percentage in a check months afterwards.

    Laid-back, pay-for-performance

    Regional Director (Current Employee)
    Sharon Hill, PA

ProsAt Belltower Books you get to make your own schedule and you get an exceptional amount of control over a business right out of college. In addition, you get quite a lot of time off which allows you to do other things.

ConsBelltower can be difficult due to the amount of travel. If you are hoping for stability, this is not the job for you. Belltower has a great business model, but it's difficult to know if it will adapt to the changing textbook market.

Awful. A huge scam, takes advantage of college students.

    Book Buyer (Current Employee)
    Pittsburgh, PA

ProsNone. This company takes advantage of college students with promises of real money. Unless you want to sweat and break your back dragging books around campus for pennies, this job is a huge scam.

ConsWhat a scam. I worked a whole week - and I worked HARD, all day. I made less that $100 total. Not worth your time.

Also, what they pay for books is significantly less than other companies, so you'll go to an appointment and get turned down by the customer because they can get more money elsewhere, so your time and energy is wasted.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't lie on your ads.

Great Start Up Company with Great Potential

    Regional Manager (Former Employee)
    Philadelphia, PA

ProsWork for an awesome start-up company with a team with great ideas and ambition to become the easiest textbook buyback on a college campus near you. Work with aspiring college students that are Buyer Reps for the company with the ability to work for a diverse grow of people. Growth is anticipated and the willingness to take on more work is welcomed. You will be able to travel around and carry larger sums of cash.

ConsTraveling. Not the most competitive salary. Not that intellectually rewarding, may need to move into a new position for that.

Best Way To Make Money Quick While Still In College

    Belltower Buyer (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

Pros1. Awesome opportunity as a college student to make $500+ during finals week if you are willing to put in the significant work and smart use of your time
    2. You provide a great alternative to friends on campus wanting to sell their books who are tired of getting ripped off by the bookstore
    3. This job is a great resume booster which only takes one week to complete
    4. Tons of flexibility (job is commission based so you get out of your work what you put into it)
    5. Great experience for a go-getter, work on marketing and sales skills

ConsWorking for Belltower Books is significant work, and you do not make the good money unless you are dedicated and willing to go "all out" buying back books during finals week. If you are seriously committed to making money, this job is for you. On the other hand, this job is not for the timid or those scared of hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe only thing that Belltower Management should improve is their scanner technology. The scanners are impressive, but at times the scanners can be glitchy which makes buying back books more difficult (must type in ISBNs).
