Management doesn't have a clue what is going on.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Oshkosh, WI

ProsPay is decent. Hours are available for a regular paycheck.

Consmanagement is not very informed, doesn't know what is going on as far as the job goes. Management plays favorites and there is no one to voice concerns to who will actually listen. As far as promotions, they will hire outside of the department and even out of the company and train that individual instead of hiring a honest, hard working employee who has been doing the job for 7 years. Wish there was upper management who cared enough to know what is going on and know that logistic wise, they are losing a ton of money. Money is being wasted on new signage and new parking lots for corporate but cant make the lots bigger for the semis for business purposes. Many semis lined up down the road because there is not enough room to enter.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet management out of the company who do not know what they are doing. Make sure if they are managing a team, they know how to operate the machinery themselves. There is so much going wrong on the inside and there is no way for employees to be heard other than dealing with a manger who doesn't know whats going on or going to HR who has no idea how operations work on the inside either. Is there a CEO who cares to know. Would be willing to discuss!

    Non Caring Company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsUsed to be a really good company to work for till they merged with Alcan

ConsCustomer Service in Hazleton, Pa was let go with little compassion from upper management. We had the choice of moving or taking the most awful severance pay ever. Your job is not safe unless you work in WI, fake you know what your doing because you have a degree from an Ivy League School and know how to cry when the time suits you, or you are a young person who can push out a senior person. This company does not care about you. stay Away!

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice what you preach. ethics, trust. Do you even know what that is? Your business decision affected a lot of people and families

    Manufacturing Office

    (Former Employee)

Prosplant co-workers are helpful and long-term.

ConsCorporate doesn't respect plant employees. it's all about them, their numbers and implementing their goals.... all corporate departments don't work together, therefore 80 different initiatives need to done.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncorporate ethics, morals, and values into your tasks.

    Sexual Discrimination

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNice hourly people, benefits are stable

ConsThe worst place for women to work, you are literally treated like you are in the 50's. It is just a matter of time before they get a class action lawsuit in discrimination. Never seen so many managers with huge ego's and bullying as a leadership style

Advice to Senior ManagementGet with the times, know that women are a contributing species. Really try to find managers that are transforming, not tearing down. Really get with the times

    Very short-sighted strategic decisions
    Very un-informed upper management

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend time to learn your business before making strategic decisions

Good for getting your foot in the door, then get out.

Data Analyst (Former Employee) Oshkosh, WI

ProsBenefits are pretty good. Parking is good. Lots of places to go if you need to get away for lunch (if you are allowed).

ConsNo advancement for someone who isn't related to someone already in an advanced position or if you don't have a mechanical engineering degree. HR is a joke. If you have any issues they will not be handled appropriately or quietly. Management is slow to praise but very quick to pass the buck as well as the blame. Many managers can't manage and instead of being let go or demoted they are promoted or moved to manage a different angle.

Advice to Senior ManagementStep out of your comfort zone and let go those you know can't manage. Embrace those who are true leaders and have great knowledge. Respect those below you and respond to their innovation, as you claim the company is based on innovation. Remember your hourly employees sacrifice a lot with the swing shifts they work.

You could not work for a more company more hostile towards its lower level employees

Press Operator (Current Employee) Terre Haute, IN

ProsIts a pay check and has decent benefits. But they will never hire another full time employee only season help and temp workers.

ConsConstant policy changes designed to write up and fire as many hourly employees as possible.
    Constant harassment from management.
Now matter what you do or how good you do it it is never enough.
    Unequal treatment between employees.
They hire people to run departments that have no clue about the production process for the department.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit changing policies every week. When your employees tell there is a problem listen. Employee morale is important and right now it cant get much lower. Learn to cooperate with the bargaining unit. They are not your enemy but are there to help.

    Average employer

    Market Manager (Former Employee)

ProsFriendly environment. Possible to work there and have a balance between life and work.

ConsNot enough career opportunities for women.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide clearer direction on skill sets needed for future advancement opportunities. Do more training for leadership on management skills.

Good place to start and get experience.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people to work with, decent benefits, 40 hour week for most employees, adequate pay for the area.

ConsNot a lot of opportunity for growth, unless you well connected. If you do get a promotion, it will only reflect your title, without change in pay. Poor communication from upper management. Company is behind on innovation side of things.

    Management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDecent benefits, lots of structure (which can also be a con).

ConsNot convinced that the company values employees as much as they claim they do, too strict with job pay ranges.
