Pros
The people I worked with were great. My department worked well together as a team. They had a good benenfits program.
Cons
They do not understand the concept of work/life balance. You work whenever they need you. It makes it difficult to have a home or social life. When people get tired of it, they leave. They got rid of the recognition programs that had any incentive attached. Loyalty and dedication to the company were replaced by "what have you done for me today?" You can't talk to HR any more. Now, if you have a problem, you can look up a FAQ on-line or call an 800 number and talk to someone at the corporate call center who doesn't know you or your situation, or really care. They'll just give you a ticket number and tell you someone will get back to you.
Advice to Senior Management
Make Quality the main thing--followed by Production. Ask your employees if they feel recognized for their efforts and make appropriate changes based on their responses. Look at the organization to see if you have become too top heavy. Consider more than just the economic impact of outsourcing. What is it doing for the morale of the organization? What is it doing for the work environment itself? Has it improved things?
Pros
Flexible work schedules (if your role allows), food in the cafeteria was good, especially the salad bar, prescription drug costs.
Cons
True condition of the company was shocking to discover upon new hire. Unnecessary extreme stress and poor moral was rampant.
Advice to Senior Management
Process promotions in a timely manner, give people an hour for lunch, do something drastic to improve quality and culture.
Pros
The pay is great and the benefits are ok. The health insurance costs a lot and you still come out of pocket a lot too.
Cons
You must know someone or be related or married to someone here to advance here.
Advice to Senior Management
Too much to disclose
Pros
It is nice to work here when you get breaks as scheduled, the machine runs well, and you work with others that treat you well. However, this only happens half the time. The pay is above average, benefits are above average, and you do receive some free giveaways from the company now and then. There is a certain level of freedom that you enjoy, because of the nature of the business. You can choose to work more in a particular area if you handle it right with your supervisor.
Cons
Everything here changes from day to day. The communication is poor often, partly because of the work itself. The work can be grueling. Even if you like the work, many get angry with their supervisor way of doing things. It is difficult to maintain a work life balance, because of the overtime required on short notice. Many of the older employees find it difficult to make sense of new procedures that are implemented. The filling machines rarely performs as expected, making more work for the operators. You lose vacation days when you are sick, even with a doctor's note. The sick and vacation days are lumped together as paid time off.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to anticipate employee needs ahead of time, by encouraging employees to communicate what they like and don't like about their jobs. Compensation is important, but many employees seem to have lots of health concerns so please keep the above average health benefits. The job can be demanding, so give employees some different options to help them cope with low energy days, scheduled overtime, and staying later than usual.
Pros
the people are tremendous, and very caring to helping reach the goals of Ben Venue. The spirit of teamwork is contagious.
Cons
The 24/7/365 pace can be brutal. The show must go on attitude creates stress on the support groups and staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Modify the focus of the output back to a common vision of quality first, second, and final. The current focus can be blinding.
