    Pros

Faculty and Students work together well. The students are amazing.

    Cons

Location, small very opinionated senior faculty, campus is spread out so interaction with faculty is hard sometimes.

    Advice to Management

We have a good dean and a visionary president. The mission is strong and very clear. This is a special school.

    Pros

Clean, modern facilities. Relaxed environment. Friendly coworkers. Always meeting new people.

    Cons

Sometimes slow. A lot of paperwork. Sometimes tedious work.

    Advice to Management

More autonomy is needed when giving tours or discussing a more specific area of the school in order to give a more personalized experience for prospective students and families.

    Pros

Strongly Catholic, the people you work for and with are some of the best people I have known, very close knit community, a lot of school pride

    Cons

The campus is very pretty, almost too pretty, which makes me wonder why some of that money isn't being put toward scholarships instead of truckloads of mulch. Also in my particular department I had trouble with my boss understanding the work/life balance. Seemed to micromanage and found many nitpicky things about job performance without ever giving any affirmations on jobs done well.

    Advice to Management

See cons. Sometimes it seems like we're trying to be too professional and politically correct. But other than that I have no compaints.

    Pros

They have a strong set of Christian values that they abide by, which make it a wonderful place to work for, with honest and dedicated coworkers. The campus is beautiful and well-maintained.

    Cons

You often have to park far away from the facilities.

    Advice to Management

They have focused a lot on "brick and mortar" growth the past 10 years and have done so responsibly. I think as they reach their maximum capacity, they should focus on improving compensation and fringe benefits, which have declined in this time period.

    Pros

great leaders and people who are greatly invested in the mission and vision of the institution. Enjoy the friendly environment and will have many lifelong friends.

    Cons

Sometimes it feels like the executive leadership values the material things and cuts corners. Budgets were tight, but huge capital campaigns were taking place. Finally, the leadership seemed to micromanage certain aspects of the institution.

  7. A great community of young enthusiastic people

    Pros

Pros at Benedictine College include the supportive administrative and the motivated students.

    Cons

Benedictine is located in a small town but it is only an hours drive to several cities.

    Pros

    Engaged and friendly teaching faculty

Many many good, hard working people on the staff side in lower positions

Close community and relaxed atmosphere much of the time

    Cons

Corruption from the CFO level on down

The worst style of helicopter management

Lifelong employees hired on family connections with no motivation or qualification

Pandering to a conservative student body has lead to the hiring of unqualified professors in subjects like biology and history

Extremely dated technological environment, poor support

Regular maintenance failures leading to flooded buildings and power outages

Boondoggle of a new building cost 10 million dollars with an entire floor devoted to the top three executives suites'

Other buildings, especially dorms, over 50 years old with no renovation. Literally falling apart

Whole school lost an entire semester's work in 2012 due to infrastructure failure

Many many teachers, staff leaving due to issues above and a generally hostile working environment

    Advice to Management

None. Management is the issue, they are well aware of it, and they aren't going to do anything about it. Stay away from this school.

    I worked at Benedictine College

    Pros

Everyone at the school makes you feel like you are a part of what is making the school successful. It is a special place that will always feel like a 2nd home. The school has come a long ways over the past decade in large part due to the alumni donating and caring about their alma mater.

    Cons

Only negative is Atchison, KS is a small run down city but the campus is beautiful.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
