    Pros

BSG has interesting clients, does intellectually stimulating work, and attracts top-level talent. The senior leadership at the firm is down to earth and genuinely cares for the welfare of the staff. You won't be bored at BSG. There's always something to do and learn. You also derive a lot of personal satisfaction the work because of the great causes the firm works on behalf of. If you work hard and perform well, you get promoted. There's opportunity for growth.

    Cons

There's definitely a lot of work at the firm and long hours are common. However, the firm does a good job at recognizing hard work and if you stay late, they buy you dinner and pay for your ride home.

    Advice to Management

The firm is undergoing a lot of growth and with that come growing pains. Stay focused and continue to figure out ways to engage employees in the conversation.

  2. High profile, long hours, deeply unsatisfying - creative thinking extinguished, not encouraged

    Pros

Your resume will look very good - clients are extremely high profile. The yearly holiday outing is a lot of fun, especially when it's service-oriented.

    Cons

Work-life balance is a myth. Investment banking hours without the corresponding salary. Creativity is spurned, rather than encouraged - bureaucracy and adherence to the process rule the day, rather than thinking about problems in interesting and new ways. When you mess up, you are made to feel stupid. Personalities here can be extremely difficult to work with.

    Advice to Management

You need to pay more. It's just not feasible to keep graduates from top universities around when the work-life balance is miserable and the pay also sucks. Also be more transparent about salary structure - is it worth it to stick around?

    Pros

Great learning environment; co. trains all new employees thoroughly. Collaborative atmosphere amongst analysts and upper management. Excellent benefits and company regularly has small events in-office for staff.

    Cons

Management does not communicate clearly, communication is touted as transparent but is not. Office environment can be very tense at times. Staff is frequently changing.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach: keep an open, transparent dialogue. Don't leave staff guessing and stressing.

    Pros

-Few or no general office tasks -You can learn a lot if you want to -Great people -Plenty of exposure to both political and corporate work -Snacks and monthly office party

    Cons

-The internship does provide good initial training, but lacks structure after than. This is not really problematic but it is something they should work on

    Advice to Management

-Ensuring that all the interns are good takes more than 1 phone interview and a brief writing test
