    Pros

Beretta is a great brand with great products. Do not undervalue having this brand on your resume. Employees are given a great deal of responsibility, which can translate to great learning opportunities. The "old-school" culture can be a great shock to people not from the industry, but is fairly typical for industry. The employees of Beretta are great people and the company often feels like a family. The benefits are good.

    Cons

Beretta suffers from a poor business culture which lacks accountability. There is literally no way employees or management are measured against expectations, budget, schedule, or quality.

In school are the student with the best grades the most popular? Obviously not. Because one student's performance is generally not effecting another students. As such, students do not structure themselves according to performance? In business each employee's performance does effect the business and other employees. However, when a business's culture lacks accountability there is no way to tell who's performance is positively or negatively effecting the business, and the business cannot structure itself successfully.

You can succeed at Beretta, but you must understand two rules; (1) Your personal success is based primarily on your personality rather than your performance so stay cordial with your peers and be liked, (2) You will not change rule 1, no way. It is not the nature of an American employee, CEO or hourly worker alike, to accept these facts. For this reason, Beretta has a very high turnover rate. To many people have made repeated attempts to violate rule 2 and as a result violated rule 1. Do this, and your time at Beretta is limited.

The pay at Beretta is not the best. Before accepting a job, negotiate something good enough that you will be happy for several years on that compensation. Do not count on proving yourself worth more later. Again, there is no accountability so no one will even know you are worth more than they are paying you. Get any/everything in writing before accepting a job (i.e. title, compensation, responsibilities). The Italian culture does not seem to consider it unethical to "sell you" on the job and change the rules later.

    Advice to Management

Self-explanatory from the above Cons. Develop a ridged accountability system for tracking employee success. Armed with this, promote employees who perform. Lean the organization by removing employee who don't perform (even if they are Italian, gasp!). Create career ladders for every position. Bridge the gap between "the ruling class" and the "working class".

    Pros

Health Insurance was cheap. Some of the people were enjoyable to work with

    Cons

Where do I begin?? First off, it is without question the worst place I have ever worked in my career. I would warn anyone that is considering to work for Beretta in Tennessee to re-consider. It is a place where careers go to die. All you have to do is look at Beretta's turn-over rate. Everyone with talent leaves or is in the process of leaving. Everything about the place is dysfunctional and leadership is full of arrogance. The company is failing at everything they do and Tennessee is shaping up to be the same story. Do yourself a favor and do not go to work for them just because you hear they are 500 years old and it would be fun to work in the industry. The place will make you miserable.

And someone please explain their org structure!!!! Why are there directors that have only a couple reports with no management under them??? What a joke.

Be prepared for leadership to back stab other departments and talk about others behind their backs. Some of them find it enjoyable when others fail.

    Advice to Management

Fire every single person in leadership immediately they are failing every step of the way.

    Pros

The company wants to do the right thing.
But Italy has the wrong management.

    Cons

A new management team that does not even like guns now control the place.
If you are pretty and say yes to them, you'll do fine.
    If not, go somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the tool industry or somewhere where people don't care.
I want to be with a company that has pride in the product and respects the employees.
    You do not do either

    Cons

Not a healthy workplace culture here in the US, high turnover, dissatisfied co-workers, constantly changing organizational structure due to foreign private ownership.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

    the product is good quality

    Cons

terrible management driven from Italy on down. HR is not to be trusted. zero job security. the only employees that stay are the locals who are trapped by economic circumstance. I think they've gone through a new GM and VP Sales every 18 months....not much better for mid-management level either.

    Advice to Management

admit that you've mistreated employees and bring the best ones back; then keep shipping product from Italy and let the Americans manage the business in the USA. Promote on ability and performance - not looks and wardrobe.
