Pros
The internship was very hands on, had many learning opportunities, the office felt like a positive and open working environment, and the program made you feel like an integrated member of the company.
Cons
There was not a lot of space in the office and software was not always up-to-date. Computers were not always available for interns to work on.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide computers for interns to work on so that they may better assist their supervisors.
Pros
First hand experience in the retail world.
Get to work with amazing and talented people.
Really learn about buying and merchandising.
Cons
Long hours (depending on who you're working with), and unpaid internship.
Advice to Senior Management
More organization in some of the floors of the store.
Should have fair promotions.
Pros
Great place to start, ability to move up in company if opportunities exist
Cons
Can get complacent due to inability to move up in company, lack of opportunities to be productive due to slow traffic of store.
Pros
Working for the most beautiful and respected store in the world.
Cons
Pay, and room for growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Support the employees that have been there and want to grow. Make it more reasonable to work there, and be able to afford living in NYC.
Pros
Most of the people are great, the store is amazing and the benefits are good. The buying team is one of the best and the Neiman Marcus Group is a very well run company overall. Oportunity to be right at forefront of the industry, working with fasion, customers, vendors, advertising, marketing. Working at Bergdorf Goodman means you are working for one of the best fashion and luxury stores in the world.
Cons
Job was not as described during interview process. Supervisors not willing to pass work down those who work under them, making job very slow. Regular tasks mostly consisted of data entry projects, or other administrative tasks. There was very high turn over in the planning division prior to my starting and when I was there.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the planning analysts more interesting work, less data entry, less administrative tasks, more analysis, more planning.
