    Pros

    They pay money for work.

    Cons

They dont pay all money that is due. You will be cheated out of every penny they can.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get ride of nepotism. Hire an unbiased safety coordinator that is independent of Berg.

    Pros

Great company to work for with lots of potential once company figures out what direction they are going in. Great mixture of people of all ages working here. Flexible with time off.

    Cons

Lack of training provided; Its all about "who you know" not what you know. Computer systems dates back to 1980. Lots of inconsistency in mgmt. lack of policies and procedures. Needs structure. Non-cohesive work environment.
People and mgmt placed in position with lack of knowledge and training for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better on hands training with your employees. Your employees success is a reflection of your leadership. Mgmt needs to be aware there are alot of unhappy employees at Berg.
Need to change the "sink or swim" unspoken mentality at work. (ALL employees I have come across feel this way)

    Pros

The only positive thing is that you EARN EVERY PENNY of your paycheck. You can expect to take your work home with you, and your stress will be evident to your family.

    Cons

No consideration for the employees. Anything and everything that will benefit the company at any cost to another (employee, subcontractor, etc) must and will be done. No loyalty for those who have diligently sacrificed everything to prove themselves to the company. When you are all used up, you will be disposed of. Giving your life to the company is an expectation. This job comes first in your life, and your life comes last to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Work for another company.

Great career opportunities in the commercial electrical construction field

I worked at Bergelectric full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, competitive pay, consistent work, Established and reputable company. Berg Electric has a consistent history of keeping the work coming for Electricians in the commercial electrical field. They have offices in many different states allowing for opportunities outside of California.

    Cons

May drive far depending on location of the work. The majority of Bergs work typically resides within 1 hr of their office in each location. Some who live outside of this radius may find themselves driving 1-1/2 hrs or more each way which equates to less time with the family and sometimes added stress due to traffic and road conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to keep field employees closer to home. The economy and gas prices are a tremendous financial burden on all of us. Cutting employee benefits only makes working for berg less desirable and brings down the moral of the field employees.

    Big Company with Small Feel...

    I worked at Bergelectric

    Pros

You are given a lot of responsibility from an early point. It only takes 6 months to a year to understand what you need to do, no rigorous procedures. There enough knowledgeable people to help answer most questions. Most of the managers are pretty laid back and dont work you to death.

    Cons

Though it is a nation-wide company, it is still pretty small. A lot of the management are relatives or close friends of the CEO's. There is an "inner-circle" type of work environment. So if you are not part of the "inner-circle" it can make you feel like you have to watch yourself more than you should. Also, some of the ideas of management are old-fashion and it hinders productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update some of the office technology, bring in up-to-date software.

    Former Employee - Payroll Clerk

    I worked at Bergelectric

    Pros

They have great benefits. The people make the place. They are great to work with needing time off. The pay is average, the benefits make up for it.

    Cons

Serious lack of communication between departments. It's who you know, not what you know. Favoritism is strongly shown. More attitude problems here than I've ever seen before.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on communication with the ALL employees. Managers should not belittle their employees to make themselves look better. Stop being so supportive of the favorites game.
