I worked at Berkshire Property full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The support and training is amazing, technology beyond comparison, awards, bonuses are unbelievable, insurance was awesome.

    Cons

The only con for me is that they had changed their portfolio so my property was sold.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope to return to Berkshire, buy in Buda and Kyle Texas, they are both growing markets. AVERTZ

I have been working at Berkshire Property full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you work hard and are willing to take calculated risks you will gain respect from other departments throughout the organization!

    Cons

Occasionally, senior leadership, (not all) can take your dedication for granted and/or minimize your results and take the good results as their own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We all have tough jobs. Don't forget where you came from and the difference in your salary and those doing far less glamorous (yet crucial) jobs.

I have been working at Berkshire Property full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexibility
    - Pay
    - Employee Voices Heard
    - Mistakes do not mean being fired, learning tools
    - Lots of Support
    - Opportunity for Growth
    - Feels like family

    Cons

Sometimes, the communication is not great. Too many corporate offices spread out, the onsite teams usually do not get the original message. Too many meetings, phone calls, and emails. Technology is behind the industry, OneSite is not great due to the platformed used. Managers are overwhelmed. OUR AP department is less than desirable - slow, unresponsive, not customer (us) friendly, so very hard to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New Property Software or a higher level of OneSite.
Petty Cash - cash should be transferred to a Credit Card.
    Cut down on conference calls
Corporate is SO GREAT when pointing out the achievements, however, its hard to get them to point out the areas that need improvements.
AP needs help, not sure what it needs, however, I know that I am not the only one who dislikes dealing with all levels.

    Pros

company culture, team oriented, family atmosphere, work-life balance. Management is involved and very knowledgeable about the industry. They provide solid leadership and good communication. They involve staff in decisions and include the support staff as appropriate.

    Cons

Infrastructure for a growing company needs to be more defined and clear. Ensuring they are paying market salaries, Growing pains of a company that is changing their image and branding but see good things coming to fruition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and continue to communicate the company's direction and vision.

    Pros

Growing company that is shedding older properties and adding newer properties and ideas on how to lead the industry.

    Cons

Some growth pains of moving fast but of you're up for the challenge, it's pretty exciting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage the site staff to keep your thumb on the pulse of the employees and current customer base to ensure you don't get too caught up in the growth and lose your focus of what really matters.

I have been working at Berkshire Property full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Rent discounts, new mentor program, easy access to all national employees

    Cons

Payscale isn't reflective of education level, transitioning from on site offices to regional/district offices is difficult, no focus on employees making lateral moves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider placing current employees in regional/district positions. Where would employees get experience to do other jobs outside of the property sites if not given the opportunity? Also, pay employees for the education that they have. Higher more employees with college degrees and higher level degrees is always good for investors. It speaks to stability and potential career advancement.

Former Employee - Marketing and Sales Consultant

I worked at Berkshire Property full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly work environment, relatively stress free, good sales experience. Commissions are nice when they get paid out. Good training.

    Cons

Low pay, work weekends, corporate hands everything down to lower management without consulting those actually using/dealing the policies and cut backs. Takes fooooooreeever to pay out commissions, you can not count on them getting to your pay check when you want them you will always be let down. Very hard to move up in the chain, unlike most companies that hire within, this company seems to waste a ton of resources hiring from outside and it usually comes back to haunt them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those working on the properties instead of just assuming you know what will work best, you have not been working on location full time in years, things change.
