I worked at Best Buddies International part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

very helpful environement, everyone was very nice and was on the same page to make people grow. i loved being there and i grew a lot as a person

    Cons

i really cant say anthing bad, it helped me grow a lot as a person. but i guess sometimes the events were unorganized and the kids didnt want to do them.

    Advice to Management

keep doing what you are doing, just try to stay more organized at times before hand so you dont confuse everyone

    Pros

A wonderful place to grow and make a lasting impact in the rights movement for individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Cons

There could be areas in the organization where growth is not available.

    Pros

Lots of creative freedom, every day is different, opportunity to see your work help foster an inclusive environment, development of leadership skills

    Cons

Not enough structure to the role, low compensation, too much driving (this can be specific to the PM's location), odd hours (e.g. attending chapter events in the evening)

    Advice to Management

More comprehensive training for new PMs

I have been working at Best Buddies International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Time off, good mission, cool coworkers, exposure to lots of different tasks

    Cons

Low pay, hard to disconnect (separate work/personal life), little room for growth, enforcing deadlines with students can be difficult and they have no understanding of time off/weekends and business hours

    Advice to Management

Better compensation monetarily; adjusting the pay scale to appropriately match cost of living in different cities. (Ex: 32k is not sufficient to live in California)

I worked at Best Buddies International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great mission, great participants.

    Cons

Poor work/home life balance, low wages, employees are not valued therefore the turn over rate is high, local state directors can create any type of policy they wish regardless of whether it goes against company policy and Human Resources turns a blind eye, upper management fails to take suggestions from the employees who are on the ground running the programs day to day.

low pay, high turnover, continually re-structuring management roles, poor on-boarding process for new employees

Employees believe in the mission and work hard, so pay them accordingly.

I worked at Best Buddies International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful Peers to work with and overall a great company to work for. You will get a ton of experience in anything you want and if you actually do the job you are tasked with it can be very rewarding. Also the company does have a great time off package should you be able to use it. Summer hours are a great bonus. Get to know David Quilleon, probably one of the best men you will ever meet. Hopefully is still with the company.

    Cons

Work-Life balance-between fundraising and school management and general networking you may as well buckle in for a 80 hour work week. Promotions can be few and far between if you want to advance upward. You seem to have a better chance if you network well with others at the Headquarters in Miami. Often the best people get passed over and leave right away. Be wary of burnout as it can happen should you take the job seriously.

    Advice to Management

HQ leadership is a mess outside of David Quilleon. This is probably due to the amount of work that everyone does in Miami. Mixed messages happen all the time; communication from HQ is poor to put it kindly.
