  1. Best Buy is a fun place to work, but lacks some professionalism.

    Pros

The employee discount provides products and services at cost. A full-time employee has access to a 401k, stock purchase plan and health insurance with Best Buy matching up to certain percentages.

    Cons

On a store level, managers are not always available for employee needs which in turn causes customers to get upset long before they should have. The stores are not always properly staffed leaving employees struggling to learn a new department on the spot. Training is lacking and mostly executed by 'learning by doing'.

    Advice to Management

Give employees your attention when they need your assistance.

  2. Training Is Not Really Training

    Pros

If you need to test drive a job to determine if Best Buy is the place for you then you can get your feet wet by applying for a seasonal position. I like the fact that Best Buy doesn't operate on a 24 hour basis during normal operations.

    Cons

The 75 plus web based training that HAS to be completed before you can start work are a BIG waist of time and the training absolutely does nothing to prepare you for when you get thrown onto the floor because it's rushed. Communication is lost upon the management team and the system used to determine how FEW hours you get each week is a joke and the management team can't get the scheduling right.

    Advice to Management

Do a survey and consider revamping all of your processes because I'm sure you've heard feedback about what does and doesn't work. Get all of the management team on the same page and re-train them.
