Pros
-decent pay
-could be a fun job depending
-surrounded by the latest technology
-you can make great friends
-great discounts on products @cost +10% .NOT landed cost however
-benefits arent bad and even extend to part timers
-extra little perks such as free pizza, free donuts, water cooler, bonus pay, all occasionally and probably typical of other employers as well
-you get to deal with and share products you're interested in with other people daily
-they're a very fair , liberal and equal employer
-corporate HQ will match your stock investment in bestbuy stock 1:1
-Yearly bonus for being under budget on store theft
-two paid, 15minute breaks
Cons
-no you dont work on commission but you are pushed to sell their extended warranty..I mean service plan to the point of it being stressful. This almost ruins the satisfaction of selling to another human being.
-distrust of employees; you're basically treated as a thief having to be searched in a futile manner when you leave, in an embarassing way in front of customers at entrances.
-a lot of acronyms, formulas, and flakey corporate strategy to learn
-30mins for lunch is pretty inadequate for most.
-the job is pretty monotonous, requires no critical thinking and presents no real challenges.
-personally for me at my location senior managment was condescending and not willing to offer help to trainees. They lacked team work, leadership abilities and proper communication skills. they were also not very professional in their job duties.
-cult like pledge of allegiance chant during morning briefing can get irritating, and makes you feel somewhat 'violated'
-outdated training modules are no longer applicable to todays current products for sale rendering them irrelevant
-the fact that geeksquad charges $120/hr for reformatting a hard drive makes you feel ill when explaining that to a senior citizen
-having to inflate the value and performance of MonsterCables (which are marked up 65% which underperform even compared to lower priced cables)
-the amount of paper wasted on priting copies of "retail weekly, the daily buzz, etc" and priting signs and stickers when only 25% of them are actually used
-the tedious DAILY tasks list ritual
-you will lose weight at this job from all the running around and lack of time to eat (for some this is a 'pro')
Advice to Senior Management
be more involved in the training process with new employees, have more patience, assist them in learning, and learn to communicate instructions, expectations, and ideas better. Take the time to lay forth the principals behind something , dont just assume someone already knows, far fewer mistakes will result this way.
Pros
The Discount is the best
Cons
Not enough hours are not enough
Advice to Senior Management
Be more fair some times some times the quitest employee might be the best
