Pros
-Discount
-Employees are fun
-Easy way to keep up with technology
Cons
-Management is poor
-Lack of incentives
Advice to Senior Management
Don't expect sales associates to care about making you more money if you don't give them incentives.
Pros
-The discount can be fantastic on certain things. That is about the only real worthwhile reason to get a job there at least as one of the low level employees.
Cons
-Management lied about promotional opportunity
-They refused to address the fact that they were underpaying after I made the transition from seasonal to part/full time.
-Many employees actively told guests information that they had no clue if it was correct or not and even sometimes actively lied to guests.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to acknowledge the employees that actually have a brain and can really contribute from the ones that just tell you the stupid company rhetoric management loves to hear with no real substance.
Pros
The fellow employees are cool and fun and to have opportunities to try out the latest electronic gadgets and can learn from customers about their experience with products
Cons
Pay is horrible and opportunities for full time employment at our store is very difficult, management add many rules to be followed
Pros
Benefits are really nice.
Pay is higher than other sales jobs.
Job is none commission base.
Not a hard job by any means.
Cons
Management disorganized.
Products often understock.
Empty Promises.
Managers need an econ class. Often didn't understand basic concepts.
Tough moving up. Work is not often recognized.
Pros
Got to use the latest in technology and the discount!
Cons
Bad management. Bad communication. Very speratic hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep everyone informed.
Pros
Company is a market leader and provides a fun and exciting environment to spend your days in. The benefits packages offered are excellent. Provides opportunities for advancement from within.
Cons
Performance or bust. Company is driven by cyclicle budgets and goals, one year it's attainable and the next it isn't. You have to be in the right place at the right time to get any kind of good recognition. Company is on a downward spiral and because of that has forgotten everything that made it great.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring best buy back to the things that made it great 10 years ago.
Hire a new CEO and change the entire direction of the company.
Pros
It's a job, the company itself is a nice company with nice values. They are trying to make performance incentive based so rewarding for hard work is always good.
Cons
Management is very poor. I had a few good managers but the bad ones are really bad. They spoil the bunch.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees understand that you want your bonuses, however, we do want to be treated as if we are valued as human beings and not just work machines.
Pros
Good discount, decent training is available.
Cons
Crappy schedule
Laziness is rewarded with weekends off while hard work requires even more hard work to cover for the lazy workers
Pros
- Flexible schedule.
- Some cool coworkers.
- In-depth training.
- Employee discount (it has since gotten less beneficial).
- That's about it.
Cons
- Idiotic scheduling; always changing.
- Favoritism reigns supreme in promotions, write ups, etc.
- Pay isn't that great. Oh, and if you do really well, but get passed up for promotions because of favoritism - well, your pay will eventually cap out, meaning even if you have GREAT reviews in your annual review - no more money for you.
- Even as a supervisor, the pay was horrible.
Advice to Senior Management
Knock off the favoritism. It ruins morale and ticks people off.
Pros
If your in a good store it can be a fun environment, and learning all the new tech stuff is pretty cool too.
Cons
When the store is not doing so well the management start micromanaging on things they haven't done them selves in years, also the management have a huge disconnect from whats really going on in the store. They think by looking at numbers hourly that they know whats going on, on the sales floor.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want your employees to work harder for you either, pay them more or give them more credit when they do well, or heck do both. Also don't over look someone based on their age...
