Pros
if you are looking for a place to get your feet wet as far as management goes this the place to be.
Cons
However it is a definitive "who you know not what you know" type of organization. Favoritism runs rampant through the stores
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on the company values, instead of just our bonus. The associates are smarter than you give them credit.
Pros
Definately the benefits. They match 401K up to 3%. Employee stock purchase plan lets you purchase stock at 15% off the lowest price within the window it was bought at. Discount is by far the best. Usually the people are pretty good to work with.
Cons
As with any job it is just the consistency in management. I see some employees just chill and get praise from managers. Some do their job well in front of the GM then dissappear when we get the busiest. Then they get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
The people that often work the hardest will usually be the ones to tell you honestly how they feel. While this may sound negative you should listen because it is most often the truth. The truth makes you better. If you promote everyone that just agrees with you then you get a lot of people that can't think for themselves.
Pros
Great pay, good benefits, equal opportunity employer, fun place to work, servant leadership style, innovative environment, good employee discounts, always stay current with the latest and greatest, helping people
Cons
very few weekends off if your a valued asset, constant operating model changes, multi-tasking consistently
Advice to Senior Management
Fix more issues at home before expanding more in multiple countries
Pros
promotions, pay and some autonomy
Cons
disrespect of store management by district, regional and higher mgmt
Advice to Senior Management
listen to experience
Pros
nice pay, great benefits, you know about all electronics coming out, employee discount...especially on store brand electronics and cables.
Cons
management doesnt do anything....unless "doesnt do anything" includes locking themselves in an office used for employee training and watching you tube videos. NO COMMISSION, but daily sales goals are expected and highly pushed to be met....yet supes and managers get bonuses for work that hourly employees are doing.
Advice to Senior Management
come out the office...listen to customers instread of sending the employee back out when a customer has a complaint and having them relay a message which will only cause the customer to further ask for a manager....again!
Pros
Amazing opportunity for growth and high pay for dedicated and hard working employees. Deep employee discounts, great freindships are formed. I can not imagine working anywhere else.
Cons
It is NOT a 9-5 job. The hours bounce around and require a certain amount of dedication to pull off. It is retail so when you are working, your friends are out having fun. And when they are at work, you are ready to go do something.
Advice to Senior Management
The hands off approach is old and out dated. Alot of the younger people at the stores need to see you in the trenches working just as hard as they are more often then not.
Pros
Opportunities, learning, growing, being a part of a really great company that cares about its employees.
I've worked for best buy for 2 yrs and moved up quickly. The atmosphere is really great....the moto is "Have fun while being the Best"!!! It's even on the inside tag of our polo shirts!!
Cons
being tired.....being in the hole as far as budget goes.
Not too many really....do your job and its a great place to work!!
Advice to Senior Management
Stop and listen. Slooowww down.
Get back into taking care of the customer (above and beyond). All stores must keep cusotmer loyalty....only way to do that......take care of the customer! they pay our paychecks!
Pros
Great benefits and pay, flexible hours. Provide good opportunity for experience.
Cons
Good management is a hit or miss, they stress on selling and hassling customers. You will actually be punished for not hassling customers almost to the point that they will want to walk out.
Advice to Senior Management
Please be more considerate to your employees, I was a hard working geeksquad agent yet was greatly unappreciated. There were many other agents and coworkers that were just plain lazy yet received for recognition, how is that?? I understand that this is specific to my certain store, but it can be a lesson learned.
