    Tragedy at Best...

Home Theater Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Hiram, GA

ProsLearning about all the new technology.
    Paid holidays.
    Four weeks of Sick/Personal Time.
Ability to work overtime, if needed.

ConsBest Buy went to high pressure sales goals without proper incentive. (Commission Sales without the commission)

Pay Scale - No matter how good in sales you are, you make the same. A person can sell $1000/month or $150000/month. Best Buy only allows you to make up to $12/hr as a full-time sales. Also, most merit increases are less than a quarter per year.

Most associates seem stressed and are highly pressured to hit numbers.

Advice to Senior ManagementBest Buy needs to do a refocus on their employees. If they make their employees happy in turn the employees will make the customers happy which will increase sales. If not, Best Buy will turn into Circuit City.

    Sales sales sales

    Retail Sales Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsGreat discount, nice to learn and be around technology. Generally good people working with you. There really is a lot of space to grow in the company if you put all of your time into it.

ConsWages suck for what you put up with. After a while it becomes a numbers game of selling and dealing with very horrible customers and management can really get on you about useless stuff that makes you want to quit weekly.

    Never Again

Multi Channel Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Temple, TX

ProsI suppose I had lots of freedom... I could talk to managers easily but if it were about an issue it would be dismissed. There's not many pro's.

ConsFraternizing was a huge issue. Lack of consistent management. The expectation that you should allow customers to yell and threaten you is unacceptable. I have never been treated so poorly in my life and management literally told me that was my job. Sorry buy being personally threatened was not my job. There are too many con's. Just thinking about Best Buy makes me upset. Oh and no competitive pay. They screw you every way they can.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe managers! Don't let people (especially young kids) walk all over you. Enforce the rules and have expectations. If you have to teach common sense, manners, and time management skills then do it. Stop making excuses for your employees or yourself. Step up and get on the same page.

Great Experience, amazing training, fun job, challenging

Best Buy Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Edwardsville, IL

Prosfun, lots of opportunities to win free stuff or get at a hugely discounted rate, many people that share a common passion work there, great management, challenging, okay pay if youre in high school. LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK YOUR WAY UP THE LADDER. extreme job flexibility and availability room

ConsLow pay compared to other sales positions, consider it a stepping stone to get into higher level sales jobs, (car sales, furniture, cell phone sales, insurance) All other sales jobs involve a lot more pay. Other than that, not too much to complain about.

    Simultaneously exciting and draining experinece

Best Buy Mobile Sales Associate (Current Employee)

ProsThe work environment is dynamic and constantly changing, which can be fun; fellow employees are great to work with (I've worked at two different Best Buys), the company is clear about how they run their business and makes sure every employee knows how the store makes money.

ConsPay is low for the work load and customers expect associates to know everything about every product in the store. Best Buy doesnt react proactively in order to provide solutions for employees who feel they do not have a voice in the company or that they are being poorly treated and instead seeks to silence claims that go against an idealized company atmosphere.
