I have been working at Best Buy part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are a huge plus. All the managers are cool. Very fun and challenging day by day.

    Cons

Average pay for a ton of work. But the longer you work there the less work you'll do and higher pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the interview process better somehow. It's longer than most companies and more of a headache.

    I worked at Best Buy

    Pros

The company itself has great core values, they offer training on a consistent basis while applying those to daily transactions.

    Cons

Executing the values through management was lacking. The toughest job about non comissioned sales is that 20% do 80% of the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More money never fixes the problem, it needs to start with a work environment that recognizes success and hard work consistently.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The Latest tech under one roof. I have been with best buy for 5 years and I can honestly say I enjoy it. We have had some dark periods in the company, with top level management falling flat on it's face. (2010-2012) However the last year and half have been amazing! Everything besides the pay scale has improved, and I enjoy my job once more. Also you can now get bonuses! (only if the whole store exceeds budget for the month)

    Cons

Lower Compensation. Yes everyone loves to complain about not making enough, but really we don't get paid enough. A good pay raise is considered $ 0.25 to 0.50 cents. (Yes, cents!) Also there is a cap, The most a sale associate can make is about 12.50. The only way to make more is to move into a management spot, which is now harder to find since the company recently downsized management positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just remove or raise the cap on sales associates. If you want us to act like salesman, then pay us like salesmen. Honestly if i was not in the middle of school right now, I would probably be more willing to seek a full commission sales job.
