I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible with school schedules and better compensation than many other retail stores.

    Cons

They recently cut down on management positions which is the reason why I decided not to continue with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more selective when hiring holiday workers. I frequently trained employees that were a far greater cost to the company than help.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I have learned how to talk to people here, like truly talk to them. Typically very fun environment. Really lives up to the value of having fun while being the best!

    Cons

Coworkers, depending on location, not everyone is in the same page and it gets very frustrating when people don't do their jobs. WAY to pushy with budgets and numbers, it's to be very de motivational.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say great work so far, also depending on location, but maybe start looking into why the turn over rate is high. I really do believe it has a lot to with our culture around pushing the budgets and numbers. The line level employees need to be focusing on customer engagement and interaction, not fretting about hitting their specific goals. Yes goals and numbers are very important and I believe they should be there but do check ins once a week. By putting more emphasis on just how important it is to have an awesome interaction with the customer, the numbers will always follow!! <3 you guys, I just want to see my company get better!!

I have been working at Best Buy part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most people working there are still in school or are fairly young. Get a great discount on all the latest electronics. You are also paid reasonably for the job that you do.

    Cons

Managers can be heavily performance driven with a lot of pressure to sell and you don't work on commission so there isn't a large incentive to over achieve .

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employee Discount is phenomenal, lots of new gadgets to play with, flexible hours, and can transfer you or move you to a different position if you'd like. Plus you'll learn a lot of knowledge both in product, communication skills, and leadership skills.

    Cons

Sales. Can get stressful at times if you're not the salesman type. Your manager can make or break your experience so be sure to interview the manager when you're applying for the job.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Best Buy is an innovative, faced paced environment with ample career advancement. The company recognizes the challenges ahead and is working to build on the changing environment in consumer electronics

    Cons

The changing culture has created a sense of instability at all levels for employment. While change is necessary, the company continually has laid off workers at all levels

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to rebuild a sense of pride and stability in the organization. Top talent at all levels is leaving the company for this very reason. Recognize the level of talent you have working within the company.
