    Pros

Fast paced company, access to senior leadership, ability to work in several business units, strength-based organization. Great pay, bonus, stock program. Some of the best people you'll ever work with.

    Cons

Poor work-life balance, unrealistic investment to new business ventures, poor management of resource allocation resulting in over hiring followed by layoffs.

    Pros

Not locked in to a 8-5 schedule. Just putting in face-time is not valued so as long as you're getting your work done, you can generally come and go as you please.

    Cons

Must be social and proactively network to avoid being part of the herd. Very difficult to get promoted if you don't do this.

    Pros

Flexible office hours, 9AM-4PM core business hours. Great cross-functional exposure and collaborative interaction - not silo'ed. Can truly take ownership of your career development. People are for the most part willing to help with your needs/objectives. BBY does invest in their employees; not with compensation, but with ongoing training opportunities. Good company communication and transparency, keep employees informed on company strategy and key decisions.

    Cons

Ecommerce/Web Properties work follows you home - expected to work/respond to issues or events outside of business hours. Like any large organization politics are a factor, who you know and which circle you are in outweighs any skill or experience you possess. You need to outwork everyone in order to get noticed and advance. Below average pay this biggest con. High turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees fairly.

    Pros

    World class corporate campus
    Best in class employee discount
    Easy access to office/great location
You are paid median market value only if the holiday goes well. If not you are paid well below market average
    The people are wonderful

    Cons

Annual layoffs (and weekly layoffs during certain seasons)
Cost cutting is like nothing I have ever seen - no real ability to effectively execute your work because doing so requires investment
Horrible work life balance - you do the work of at least two people (because they can't afford to hire more)
The company's stock has very much improved over the past two years (due to cost cutting) but sales have not
Employees are in a constant state of worry about job security - everything hinges on a strong holiday

    Advice to Management

They are doing everything they can to survive but time will tell if their current strategy will actually work - and there isn't much time left

    Pros

    - Very nice corporate campus - centrally located with great amenities (free covered parking, gym, cafeteria, stores, caribou coffees)
     - Many career opportunities exist, and most managers will help you learn and grow within the company
     - A lot of very nice and talented people to work with
     - Decent benefits for a retail company, though health care could be a lot better (see below). Fantastic discount program.

    Cons

    - Best Buy used to be a very flexible place to work when it had the ROWE program in place, and is now the exact opposite for many. Ending it was a very short sighted move by the new management that just didn't understand it. The only companies moving backwards like this are ones that are failing.
     - Turnover is very high, even at the corporate office. This leads to huge knowledge loss and overworked departments that have become disorganized.
     - The culture is no longer what it once was. People don't feel that their jobs are secure or that the company cares about them.
     - The only cost effective health plan is an expensive high deductible plan that leaves you paying for everything out of pocket up to an always increasing deductible.
     - Business "casual" dress code for non customer facing positions, and it's sold as a benefit. What decade are we in?

    Advice to Management

You have done a great job fixing the retail problems that have kept the company from being successful in this market. Unfortunately you have also made this an environment that few enjoy anymore and have driven a lot of very talented employees away. Now that the company is becoming more stable you should really focus on retaining and attracting the best employees. To do this you need to be innovative, not old school and rigid. Also, seriously reconsider ROWE or something similar. Just make sure managers are properly trained to support that type of work force, and you will save money in multiple ways.

    Pros

Great work/life balance, good employee morale in a turnaround environment. Bonus payouts in 2014 & 2015 exceeded target.

    Cons

A lot of lifelong employees that are very baked into old and expensive ways of doing things. There is some fresh blood coming in at the senior leadership level that's changing things, but things move very slowly.

    Advice to Management

Continue embracing the agile and lean work patterns that help other companies do more quickly with less...Get rid of people who say "we can't" or "it's hard." Keep the foot on the gas pedal.

    Pros

Exciting pace of change--always something new coming
Hires some of the brightest, most engaged professionals in the nation
Fantastic global business experience and best-in-class overseas teams
    Fun but challenging work
    Amazing corporate campus and amenities
Healthy executive churn. You won't be "stuck" with anyone too long.

    Cons

Multiple software platforms required every day; takes a long time to develop mastery
The job titles don't always match the experience or maturity of the people that have them.
Lay-offs and uncertain future for electronics.

    Pros

Opportunity to advance, flexible work environment (but much less than it once was), Nice corporate headquarters, solid benefits

    Cons

Poor pay and small increases compared to similar roles in the area and nationally, less than inspiring executive leadership, lack of recognition for top performers, frequent changes in strategy, initiatives and direction.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of recognizing top performers and retaining talent. I currently see many good people leaving for much better pay and more engaging positions. Do a better job of managing or eliminating under performers. Deal with selfish leadership that is doing harm to the organization and further driving out talent.
