Pros
flexible hours and lots of talent
Cons
they don't care about retaining good workers
Advice to Senior Management
open up accommodation offers to everyone
Pros
Employee discounts were actually decent.
Cons
Poorly managed and lack of growth.

Pros
Good discounts on certain items although it at one time used to be better.
Days off almost always given when asked for.
Cons
Very poor computer based training. Their "Sales Excellence" is as about as backwards as a sales plan could get. Not meeting unrealistic expectations results in write ups and then termination. Such as selling too many of one type of item over another. Not selling protection plans on items such as movies and games. And not approaching every customer with the same invasive "get to know them with small talk"each time. Items outside your department don't count towards your individual sales goal even when you are asked to cover another department by management.
Advice to Senior Management
Scrap "Sales Excellence" and train supervisors and management better. They should be more conducive towards customer sales rather than walking around all day pointing out errors in your "small talk" to the customer and threatening write ups.
Pros
You get a nice discount and the Tuition Reimbursement program is nice
Cons
Senior Management is very resistant to change and new ideas. Also because they are trying to transition the managent to a more degreed work force the supervisors who do not have degrees are not willing to share kmowledge in order to train new employees. I also had several racially motivated remarks hurled at me and human resources did nothing about after I reported it several times overall I wouldn't put yourself in that situation at all period
Advice to Senior Management
Quit you suck at your job
Pros
Decent pay and bonus structure
work around schedules for school
advancement is there.
Cons
Its who you know not what you know
Some managers should not be in their positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at your managers and hold accountable
Pros
Great discount on accessories. If you are lucky and have a good management team, you find yourself caring about the company and wanting to succeed, otherwise, no.
Cons
Most employees only cared about themselves, not the best company with the best corporate culture. High turnover, you never feel at home for very long, this makes employees feel distant and unlikely to dedicate themselves fully.
Advice to Senior Management
Read above.
Pros
I loved everything about working at Best Buy. Especially all of the people that I worked with. They really made the experience fun.
Cons
Some people might not have liked setting up the different packages on a saturday night. But i absolutely loved it.
Advice to Senior Management
I think that they should not have to change a thing. Best Buy is a fun place to work and when you leave you still feel like you have accomplished something.
Pros
-Good People
-Very Flexible
-Fun Environment
-Something new everyday
-Love helping people
-Fair compensation
-GREAT discount
-Fair management
-Great Team Motivation
Cons
During some times of the year you dont get too many hours, which can hurt the wallet. sometimes sales goals are insane are often not met, but still reprimanded sometimes.
Advice to Senior Management
Best Buy should return to its roots and put the customer first. At times there are those few customers who leave unsatisfied. I tried my best to help everyone but at times it was just nearly impossible.
Pros
Fun atmosphere that is really centered around innovation and maximizing everyone's potential. While not every store may have such culture, the general theme remains consistent. Tremendous benefit package for all employees, particularly full time associates
Cons
Not everyone shares the same enthusiasm nor are they expected to. This is a job for many students to work while getting their education. Many of them do however end up staying with the company due to many advancement opportunities
Advice to Senior Management
Open up sub division offices of corporate across the country
Pros
Best Buy is an exciting place to work. Being amidst technology is fun, I really enjoy helping the public bridge the gap, and achieve their own concepts and goals with technology. A growing group of the public allows technology to control their lives to the extent that they think that technology is a bad thing, I really like turning it around so that they can command technology to make their lives easier and more fun. Best Buy offers employees a general flexibility that realizes each person is different, and each person will have their own style of selling. Best Buy applies their core philosophies to each employee and allows them to interpret these philosophies.
The pay and benefits are relatively competitive for the field, a big plus is the tuition reimbursement program.
Cons
Best Buy has always claimed that they promote from within, this is not exactly true especially when it comes to management level positions. Manager rotation from store to store is very high, if you aspire to rise in the ranks this can be very challenging, as you develop a relationship with your management team and begin to work on plan for promotion, the managers can get moved to a different store, leaving you in a very discouraging position because the new management team has no relationship with you or your plans for promotion. Essentially I am back at square one. I have repeated this process several times, and am so discouraged with this process I put forward little effort in this area anymore.
Advice to Senior Management
Develop a system that is clear cut for promotion. I want a black and white system that measures my progress and defines me as ready for the next position.
