Pros
- Quarterly bonuses
- Great opportunity from managements for leadership training
- Decent starting pay, even with no experience
- Really invest in your selling skills, and help whenever they can
Cons
- Your bonuses rely on your ability to meet those quarterly budgets. Not meeting budgets = no bonus
- Plenty of leadership training from management, but difficult to find a leadership position to move up to
- At times, it really can give off a stressful commissioned atmosphere when we're all hourly
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing while you can
Pros
Great benefits, fun work environment. No day is ever the same.
Cons
Supervisor and assistant manager positions are challenging and will require round the clock dedication for success. High employee and management turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
This year and holiday season leadership increased aggressiveness in marketing, holiday hours, and pricing. Keep it up.
Pros
Able to move around a lot from position to position. Able to a crew a lot of experience from a lot of diferent areas
Cons
Like any place, the people make the job not the responsibility.
Advice to Senior Management
Stick with it, you are going to fail at something eventually. Its all about how you bounce back.
Pros
They really encourage you to have fun while being the best. New technology changing very quickly, so it's like working in a big toy store.
Cons
It's very high pressure to make a sale to hit your goal. Need to work on the training process. Geek Squad needs to improve.
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to get to know your employees, teach and train them properly. Make sure your customers have great in your store, there too many competitors out there.
Pros
Part-time benefits aren't bad ( 401k, Stock Purchase, Discount ). Hours are usually flexible around school or a second job.
Cons
Irregular hour distribution to part-time employees. Management and corporate are usually disjoint and ignorant of how their initiates are funneled down and implemented. There is a large disparity between corporate and the retail level.
Advice to Senior Management
Your line level employees are your greatest asset, yet you continue to treat them as disposable. You provide little training anymore, and instead rely on young employees to walk in the door knowing product. When there is training, it's either crammed into a weekend training or into learning lounges that no one has time to actually sit through.
Pros
Good discounts. Employees aside from management are nice and helpful.
Cons
High-pressure micromanagement with non-commissioned barely above minimum wage pay. Management doesn't seem to understand basic principles of leadership such as not lying to your employees or not ignoring them or paying them on time.
Advice to Senior Management
Put people in charge who have education and experience. Don't give your sales staff a hard time every time someone doesn't buy a TV especially if you don't pay commission. That $8.50/hr doesn't give you that much leverage.
Pros
Relatively easy job to get, fair pay for skill level, advancement opportunities if networked with the right members of management.
Cons
Not enough pay compensation for amount of work, favortism runs rampant, not enough hours for part-time employees, too little spots available for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Know your staff, know the people who actually make a difference and not just the people who, excuse the language, kiss butt. More fair compensation for part-time associates, more hours
Pros
Everyday you get to meet new people and experience different personalities. Getting to help people succeed and find ways to improve their life is really what keeps me motivated.
Cons
Some leaders do not know how to treat their employees. They lack skills or the accountability of treating people like human beings. Some Managers are amazing and they keep employees wanting to work there, however they seem to be outnumbered.
Advice to Senior Management
Train Your GM's how to manage their direct reports so that they feel valued and appreciated. A company will only be successful if their employees feel valued and want to continue to work diligently for them. It would also be beneficial if the Leaders of the company were not so disconnected from the employees that serve their customers. Do not always manage through conference calls, but get small and talk to the part timers, full timers, and Am's.
Pros
You meet a lot of great people. You learn a lot about sales. You get to be knowledgeable about all the new electronics and there features.
Cons
Being a customer service representative a lot of other employees expect you to do a lot of their work.
Advice to Senior Management
Be fair to everyone and recognize those who do great work.
Pros
Discount
Make Good Friends
Get To Be Around Latest Technology
Cons
Management Always Changing Policies
Too Much Busy Work/Waste of Time
Management Obsessed With Retail Numbers
Do Not Respect Employees
Lack of Pay
