Pros
There are chances to earn rewards by signing people up to rewards programs. Discounts can be found worlwide at the chain of BW hotels.
Cons
Benefits are nearly non-existen (healthcare). Pay is barely liveable. Co-workers are somewhat likely to be incompetent because the pay does not attract talent.
Advice to Senior Management
The franchise setup does not allow Corporate management to solve any pay or benefit deficiencies. Offer inlets to joining corporate workforce.
Pros
its a job right now
Cons
long hours, low pay, no recognition for a job well done, just always being told when they think you aren't doing it their way. having to do the work of 3 people alone
Advice to Senior Management
teach the general manager to deal better with his employees
Pros
Not a hard job, get time off when needed, get best western rewards points for signing people up for rewards program
Cons
No room for advancement, management doesn't care about anything accept themselves, front desk supervisor talks about all front desk agents behind their back, they only accomadate you when it's convenient for them, no benefits and minimum wage salary
Advice to Senior Management
Keep collecting your fat check....because everyone there knows how much you really care!.............................................
Pros
At this point after 4 years i feel it's at least a paycheck. The only true satisfaction i get from my job is when you know the guests are happy with what you do to make their stay comfortable.
Cons
Just because you work at a Best Western Hotel does'nt mean you're working for that company, you work for the private owner, who really don't want to make sure employees are being treated fairly. It's all about the money and the name.
Advice to Senior Management
somebody needs to care for the employees who work hard to clean the rooms, and prepare breakfast and the front desk people who sell their rooms to make them money and the laundry personal and see that they get treated fairly. keep in mind this is real life, not a local play.
Pros
the co workers were nice, the guests who came on a regular basis were very friendly, you were able to eat breakfast during your shift,
Cons
the management
the work hours
no communication
favorites were played
not a good career choice for someone looking to make it in the hospitality industry
employees can do what they want with not getting reprimanded
Advice to Senior Management
hire some better general managers and actually take the time to visit the property so you can see what is going on and how the environment is or could potentially be impacting the employees. Also don't be afraid to spend a little bit of money to upgrade the place a little bit
Pros
Discounts on hotels all over
Cons
Horrible management - inability to move up in the company - unfair scheduling - lack of care for the product making it VERY difficult to do your job.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the product but appreciate the employee. WIthout them, your company would not function. Yes profit is important but without a staff there is no chance to make a profit.
Pros
Every best westen is independently owned and operated so you never know how far development possibilites may go and what your options are.
Cons
The hotel flag may be a disadvantage in an area surrounded by upscale hotels, you need to get guests to overcome that perception at times.
