    Very flexible/understanding

ConsFor front line employees: bad raises
Management gives in WAY too easily
    Communication barriers
Need to worry about the older stores before they open more

    Doesn't care about employees

    Bookkeeper/Customer Service Manager (Former Employee)

ProsVacation/personal day accrues regardless of full time or part time.
    Free turkey during Thanksgiving.
    Christmas gifts.

ConsThe average increase in salary is $ .25 once a year and you have to keep on top of your manager for the yearly raise or you won't get it.

I was hired part time and worked full time hours most of the month, then the last week of the month they would cut me down under 30 to keep me part time.

Twice I was pressured into choosing days off for vacation, only to find out I was working anyway the chosen days and the management knew nothing about me having a day off.

None of the managers know what the others are doing.

I and others I work with were abused verbally by customers for things we had no control over.

They didn't care about your day off, if they called you to come in and you couldn't the manager demanded to know what was so important.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaking sure your employees working there is just as important as making sure the customers come back. I, as a former employee, refuse to shop there if only because I know how they treat the staff.

    Bad job

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere are not many pros more problems. Other than it is a paycheck each week.

ConsUnsafe, unclean, bad management, human resources is not much help. Issues of harassment and assault from stuff and customer's. That the only time they where addressed when the state and police got involved.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should look at the stores and staff and do better interviews. They should address all the problems when they are reported.

    Cashier

    Cashier (Current Employee) Shirley, NY

ProsManagers are understanding and easy to get along with. The people you work with are terrific as well. You get a paycheck every week.

ConsWorking with the public. Its not always bad, but people are impatient, generally unintelligent and rude when they can't get what they want. Rules and guidelines are unclear and often change (practically over night). No overtime.

    ConsPoor employee retention
New employees often have to help open and close store
Lack of communication between corporate and store workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to get people to work for a bigger cause.

Let this be your last choice

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a paycheck at the end of the week

ConsHorrible pay, no growth opportunities, rude and disrespectful managers. Very high turn over rate. Managers do not care for their employees at all......Store manager loves to fire people for silly reasons.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire better managers, increase hourly wage.....have a better human resource department( they do not help)...more growth opportunities.
