    Pros

Management team has a lot of experience to share with staff. Promotes values that are needed for today's version of a good home, not just a nursing home.

    Cons

It's a nursing home, and nursing homes are tough places to work in general. The economy puts a strain on growing out of old ways that don't work. Getting "buy-in," from staff on exciting new ideas is not easy, even if it is best for all concerned. Health care in the U.S. is too conservative for its own good. Even the state surveyors, that inspect the home force management to spend more time on virtually random problems, and not day to day processes.

    Advice to Management

Keep on trying, make the time to put together well thought out training of all sorts, and encourage "real," buy-in from all involved. Not easy, but worth the effort.

    Pros

A handful of dedicated and competent staff members that genuinely care for the residents

    Cons

Management gives lip service about making changes and making things better. No communication. Benefits suck, of course. No paid time off accrued til one year of employment! Unheard of til Bethany. Kitchen staff incompetent and lazy. CNAs don't give a crap and are underpaid as far as market wages for CNAs for Denver. Constantly short CNAs. The rules aren't the same for everyone - if they like you then you're golden. And it seems purely random if they like you or not. Actually it's never random either you fit their agenda or you dont. Management Is shady and claims to require excellent care for the residents on one side of their mouth but on the other if you bring to their attention the shoddy treatment the residents receive you are then on your way out.

    Advice to Management

    Grow a pair.

  3. Uses up the CNAs like kleenex. Patients great, workers sold like field hands.

    Pros

Caring for patients is great. Establishing relationships of trust and really helping others is very rewarding. Co-workers can vary, but most work with you as a team.

    Cons

Took years to get benefits like insurance, and you need it with all the heavy lifting. Then two weeks into the new benes, surprise, the company has been sold and benefits are cancelled. No more insurance, vacation time cancelled, everybody has to re - apply for their own jobs and start over like a new hire. For 5 bucks over the minimum wage, this is abusive. To hint that maybe all this might lead to a raise for employees someday is an insult to the intelligence of a hard - working crew.

    Advice to Management

Would they actually take any advice? To sell a nursing home to an out - of-state buyer and not retain a single benefit for the employees who work so hard shows cynicism to both the staff and the clients, who actually pay for and need the work they do. Patients need to come first in this business, not shareholders.

    Pros

I was a new grad nurse and they were willing to hire me. It was experience and I learned a bit.

    Cons

The managment sucks. They play favorites and if you're not one of the favorites, they hover around trying to catch you in mistakes. They kept adding more non-nursing tasks that took away time from doing real work, like taking care of the residents.

    Advice to Management

Support the staff instead of finding ways to tear them down. Or just quit so they can hire some competent management.
