I have been working at Bethel School District full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    The students!
Summer Institute- free professional development and continued PD through the year if you are a teacher leader
    Competitive pay for local area
    Great classroom teachers

    Cons

Low morale in almost every elementary building. Frustrated staff with the politics that invade classrooms
District and buildings move to action too quick thus creating more and more work- also changing things before ample time is given to see if it works. "on the cutting edge" is not always a good thing.
Reading curriculum is not aligned to CCSS and there is a limit on copy clicks when you need to create your own
Superintendent is concerned with the business side- physical building and growth, business partnerships, not so much care of students and staff.
Lack of continuum of services for needy students- teachers are housing many violent and disruptive students with little support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to teachers, replace building administers, put some energies to the what used to be the Bethel Family and build the morale back up. Consider the big picture of happenings before adding more- MANY teachers are physically ill from stress and workload. Bethel has lost its family feel, the trust has been broken between district staff and teaching staff.

I worked at Bethel School District full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

This school preaches diversity but in reality it's a KKK school

    Cons

If you are a colored teacher you will be framed and they will make it appear like they haven't done any wrongdoing--- this is a racist school district

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open up and be vocal if you don't want colored teachers and students just say so. Because this community is a product of white families who moved out of the main cities to get away from other races.

I have been working at Bethel School District full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This district is pretty big but at the same time it does not feel overwhelming to work in. The staff in the district really cares about their students and does a nice job of meeting each child's needs.

    Cons

I feel that this district could do a better job with their budget. Teachers are almost always being laid off at the end of the school year and hoping to get called back in a month or two before school starts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please re evaluate some of the administrators you have! There are some very unfriendly ones who create a hostile work environment. There are some who seem to single out teachers and make their year miserable.

    Neutral Outlook
