    I have been working at Betty Ford full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    The general staff workers are nice and some of the middle management are very dedicated and committed to the mission. The grounds are beautiful. Cafeteria has good food.
    Hazelden has taken BFC over now after decades of financial mismanagement.
    Business will increase only because Hazelden will be redirecting patients to go to BFC.

    Cons

    Minimum professional standards far exceed actual practice. Senior leadership does not understand professional practice standards are therefore is bottleneck to making improvements.
    Patients are not safe here. Many end up going to the Emergency Room in worse condition.
    Some leaders are very arrogant, unethical, incompetent and intimidate people telling them to keep quiet and don't ask questions. If they do, they lose their jobs. There is a large veil of secrecy. If you are not in the "clique", you will not survive. Staff who are "in recovery" seem to hold a much higher status than those who are not. New employees are often asked, "Are you in recovery?"
    Human Resources is there for Senior Leadership, not staff. They will not be honest with staff.
    There has been a long history of appearing in people's offices with a box and firing them without notice.
    You will waste your time working here and realize there is nothing special nor unique here, except the manicured lawns & landscape. Senior leaders salaries are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars while regular staff earn as little as management can get them to accept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Replace old long term leaders with new competent people who can change the culture. Otherwise, it will never happen, no matter how many Studer seminars they attend. Talk to front line staff, not managers or directors.

    Pros

    Invited to participate in the beginning.

    Cons

    Told to be quiet. Neglected temp/new employee prep in HIPAA on the temp side. Let go inappropriately and abruptly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide proper and timely information, forms, etc. for a new employee to succeed not fail.
