I have been working at Bharat Petroleum full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Workload at most times of the year in the IT department is minimal. The 9-6 timing typical of a PSU is adhered to mostly

Availability of loans for various commodities like cars, motorcycles, furniture etc. on confirmation as an employee.

Bonds which are typical of PSU are absent.

    Cons

    No incentive based pay.

When workload increases, adequate rest period and incentives are not given. It becomes like working for a Private company without any extra pay. Overtime pay, if any is a pittance.

Promotion is fixed regardless of the mettle of the employee. This claim is refuted by HR department of the company, but the fact is that seniority holds sway, and not potential.

Pay hikes are invisible. Even after working for two years, there has hardly been a increase of a few thousand bucks to the gross pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Kindly take the employees aptitude and are of interest into account before assigning them roles which may cause slight setbacks to their growth.
