Pros
Reasons are many which are similiar to working in any PSU like:
Stability
Work-life balance
Good compensation package
Smart and good people
Cons
Boring work
Bureaucratic
Takes too long to process something
Other than colleagues, the administration... the HR people... Finance guys are not at all helpful
Advice to Senior Management
Make the support staff understand they are there to help employees not to unnecessary cause troubles to them and do nothing to process their request.
Pros
High responsibility levels at entry level, Not very competitive. You can initiate new practices and can get easily noticed by top management
Cons
Highly Hierarchical. More time is spent on doing things other than your own work. Transfer and promotions are done in an unfair manner.
Advice to Senior Management
Importance of understanding the level of competition that could arise once the market gets open. Need to skill up management staff accordingly.
Pros
Work culture
Company's profile
learning opportunities
Cons
Slow progress (being a government organization)
Advice to Senior Management
try to provide more growth opportunities to employees
Pros
1. Travel Across India gives you oppurtunity to explore countryside to the fullest
2. Great exposure in Sales and Distribution management and development of interpersonal skill
Cons
1. Social Life sucks especially early in career due to posting in remote locations
Advice to Senior Management
Some of the best practices in Industry are being followed. But some get togethers for new staff may be organised at Regional and national level
Pros
Respect from community where one gets posting
Excellent job profile for first 2-3 years
Good salaries of 7-9 Lakh INR to freshers
Job Security
Policy to financially support part time education if somebody wants to pursue
Cons
Posting at remote places very very away from hometown
Very obsolete thinking of HR professionals who consider employees as liabilities not assets
BPCL is a very vast organization..one may get into very good profiles like international trade, Finance, ERP, SAP etc etc. but most of recruits go to LPG Plants or Retails Depots where generally they find difficult to adjust.
Young people dont get good company in small towns unlike their peers in IT sector or other companies where there is party every night
Pros
Money is good at entry level. The benefits are good, but shrinking due to government policies. The company is extremely ethical in dealings with outsiders.
Cons
No clear path for future. No transparent promotion or transfer policy exists in the company. Many cases of "wrong person at wrong place" at top management levels.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up!!!!!!!!!
Pros
U ll get free time, no stress, ok salary
Cons
No performance based bonus, promotions, too much power distance
Advice to Senior Management
Change the culture and top management officials, introduce career program for high performing employees
Pros

Opportunity for growth
Cons

Bureaucratic Culture.
Low on hr policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Should improve hr policies regarding final deployment.
Pros

Good Pay is offered because of PSU
BPCL cares for its employees in all respects
Cons
there are Less challenges at work
No knowledge sharing occurs at work place
lot of ad hoc type of work
Pros
As a personality you may grow for eg you may learn to handle difficult situations, situations which you would not have dreamt in your life.
People who do not have a job or are having a low paying job may find solace in working for this comapny.
Cons
Worst middle management ever.
Growth is worst, there is no connection between the amount of hard work you do and the growth one achieves.
Frustrating job.
Cultural biasses.
No work life balance.
Hot spot for politics.
People still working with the company are still working because they cannot join any other company.
Advice to Senior Management
I dont see any leadership in BPCL. It is time they get some leadership.
