    Fun, but not worth it

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEasy job, but not worth the pay. They start you off slow then increasing add to your workload

ConsThey require too much of you for a 30k a year job. weekends are expected. as well as holidays.

    Short Hours, Bad Management

    Donation Driver (Former Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsAs soon as you finish your route, you're done. (in most cases) Working four, ten hour shifts.

ConsThe boss is a dick who doesn't like intelligent people. He wants to be the smartest guy in the room and loves to belittle employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being a douche.

Does good things, in a typical non-profit way.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe organization puts good energy into the world. Its cause is noble, its staff is (mostly) made up of professionals who want to make a positive impact on the youth of today.

ConsIt is not the most efficiently run non-profit in the world. Some staff are redundant; day-to-day operations involve a lot of extraneous red tape.

I really enjoy my job and work being done however the pay isn't well and benefits are not offered.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWorking with the kids and their families (which an also be a con at times), flexible schedule and paid days off.

ConsPay is horrible and the financial stability of local agencies is questionable, lots of miscommunication from national hq.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate governing boards focused on fundraising and hire regional directors.

    Business Outreach Intern

    Business Outreach Intern (Former Employee)
    Bellingham, WA

ProsThis organization provides great programs for children in thousands of communities, therefore your time spent goes to a great cause and is extremely valued by the recipients.

    -Fun atmosphere
    -Great Cause
-Kids really appreciate your time and help
-Fundraising events are fun to be apart of
-Lots of freedom to take on projects and tackle tasks in your independent style

ConsMy internship was unpaid, therefore I couldn't afford to spend as much time with the organization as I would have liked. The process for approving 'Bigs' is time consuming and requires a one year commitment to the program, this makes it difficult for a lot of people to participate.

    Not what expected

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

ProsI enjoyed my co-workers and it was great getting to know the Bigs and Littles in the program. It is a good first job just to see what the real world is like - most people who work here are young and don't stay but 1-2 years.

ConsAttrition at this company is crazy. You work basically 24/7 for horrible pay and no bonuses, salary increase, training, etc. There is no opportunity for advancement even though they say there is. There is a lot of nepotism that happens in the company and the interactions that took place in team meetings were inappropriate. You would think that knowing what you are doing is providing a great service to the community and children would make working here wonderful, but the job is not really rewarding intrinsically.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't keep hiring family.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
