I found my brief experience working for this Company mediocre at best.

    Pros

Job satisfaction, and the opportunity to directly interact with the customers to meet their needs.

    Cons

Lack of proper training, personnel shortages which led to being over-worked. And lack of respect of the management by shop personnel.

    Advice to Management

Take a more proactive approach with the employees, to improve the climate of the working environment.

  2. Not enough pay for hours and stuff you have to deal with.

    Pros

over time and the chance to take a holiday off once in a while

    Cons

too little time off hard on feet standing for 12 hour shifts

  6. Horribly Mismanaged Shop!

I worked at Big O Tires

    Pros

Honestly, I lasted a half a day. I don't have any positives about the company. Since it is a franchise, your experience may be different (mine was Poway, Ca).

    Cons

The interview was too easy. The day I started the job I was asked if I had a roller for my tools. During the interview I was told only mechanics brought tools (I was a tire/lube tech). I was paired with someone for "training" who simply did everything for me and wouldn't let me at least try to do my job (I do have experience). Tools were broken or non-existent, we had to turn away a car because we didn't have the right part to remove the lug nuts. I was let go about halfway through the day because I wasn't up to par. The challenge is I was never allowed to show them what I could do.

    Advice to Management

When you are paying your employees $10 an hour provide a decent working environment. Basic tools and training. This shop (at least) is a disaster

    Pros

The only plus was there was room for advancement.

    Cons

The corporate side of Big O Tires is TBC Corp which is owned by sumitumo tires. Years ago sumitumo wanted distribution routes into the U.S. so long story short they bought TBC who owns Big O Tires, NTB, Merchants Tire, and Tire Kingdom. Despite many peoples belief, Discount Tire and Big O tires have absolutely nothing to do with each other. The bad is they let anyone be a franchise owner and for the most part each store is individually owned and operated or a small chain 3-8 stores. The franchise I worked for was less than ideal, and only focuses on making ungodly amounts of money and pushing the limits of ripping people off to do so.

    Advice to Management

Send in people undercover to check up on franchise owners employees on no regular basis.

    Pros

I worked for a great owner, pay sucked on the front end, but, he made up for it on the back end. Very fun and fast paced if you land with the right owner.

    Cons

    No hourly pay increase EVER

    Advice to Management

I know that most stores are franchised, but, owners need to be held more accountable for their actions.
