The Dalles, OR

Current Employee – been working at Billabong

Prosset schedule, enough work, nice area to live in,

Conslow pay, filthy working conditions, lack of facilities on site(enough bathrooms, break areas, lockers),forced overtime(white slavery),demanding physical work, lack of security(located in prison property with no exterior lighting)no chance for advancement or learning new skills.

Advice to Senior Managementstep up and pay employees a living wage, you may have to skip on doubling up on your porsche payment once a year.but it will be worth it in terms of morale ,productivity and pride.turnover will cease to be a cruel joke on trainers.overall quality of workers interested in the jobs will rise.
we're not asking for the moon, just a reasonable wage that allows a person to support a household.
as it stands 70% of the workforce makes minimum wage or a dollar over, and the people who got you this far don't make much more.highest known paid non-management personell is only paid 13.usd/hour. many people doing the exact same work are paid far less and as a result have suffered adverse health effects, undue stress due to financial situation, and many are on public assistance.most work a second job even after working a forced 50 hours a week at your slavepit.
Stop being a company that only cares about profits at the expence of it's most vulnerable assets and do something,
even pay for jobs would be a start, minimums for permanent employees ahould start at 11USD/hr and scale up to about 15usd/hour,that doesn't sound greedy or malicious on our part does it? if it does, then maybe other actions should be the avenue to success.

Current Employee – been working at Billabong full-time for more than 7 years

ProsThe work is rewarding. If you like being around people and striking conversation with complete strangers then this is the job for you. I get to meet the most interesting people everyday I go to work.

ConsTo many bosses and bosses bosses. You never know who to really listen to when you are at a manager level. Everyone has a say about pretty much everything and they all want it their way. Communication need some help.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut ONE person in charge and if you have a problem with something at the store level GO UP! Not down... Example: The color story in the Jr side is not what you hoped it would be, go to the head merchandiser DO NOT ask the team working in the store to change the entire wall while trying to sell. We want to sell not merchandise, If we wanted to merchandise we would be merchandisers. And If you want us to be stand in merchandisers allow us the pay roll for it...

Former Employee – worked at Billabong part-time

ProsThe dress code is pretty laid back and people generally do not take themselves to seriously. You can be yourself and don't have to put on a front for customers.

ConsIf you are not into weird alternative rock/pop music then you will not enjoy it blasting loudly into your ears all day everyday. The people who work there are usually really friendly, but the management team is a disaster always.

Advice to Senior ManagementBeing that you work in a skate/surf shop I am sure it is easy to feel like a child again, but you are adults. Please remember that.
