Good Pay, Crappy everything else

Machine Operator (Former Employee)
Owensboro, KY

I worked at Bimbo Bakeries full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe only pros were you get good pay

ConsNo two days off in a row ever, Hard, hot labor, Supervisors didn't know anything, Work all holidays, never going in at the same time, and they don't appreciate their workers no room for advancement

Advice to Senior ManagementNot a good place to be, start treating the workers better and let them off a weekend every once in a while

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

One massive lie after another.

Route Relief Driver (Former Employee)

I worked at Bimbo Bakeries full-time for more than a year

Prosthere are no pros to this job, it really sucks. the only good thing about this job is when you quit and get the hell out of there.

Consbad pay when not on a route, long long hours now that they eliminated jobs but not the amount of work. no time for a life. expected to drive to next town on your day "off" when covering routes. Shorted thousands in commissions and on my final check the took 300 back for "overpayment".

Advice to Senior Managementget a freaking clue.

I am Constantly Amazed

Employee (Current Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Bimbo Bakeries full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe company has not completely failed yet but if current practices continue, it won't be long. Every now and again you get a free loaf of bread. That's a "Pro."

ConsThe incompetence at all levels of management and decision making is astounding. If I didn't know better I'd think they are trying to fail at what they're doing. They are disorganized, inconsistent, short sighted, and have no vision past the end of the day.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house. Keep home office personnel if you want to but clean out operations. They will be the death of you. Ever hear of the "house divided"? BBU is a business model for a divided house. You have no future going in 12 separate directions with each market trying to out-stupid the other. I give you 10 years and only because you have some serious cash backing from Mexico.

NOT a good place to work!

Production Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Bimbo Bakeries full-time for less than a year

Pros* Decent Salary
* Senior Management is for the most part very friendly.
* The company is growing in the U.S.

Cons* Terrible amount of hours required.
* Company is not really trying to develop new and innovative products to compete with competition.
* The company isn't handling growth well and is actually losing market share as a result.
* Benefits are terrible, but cost you a lot.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain your management and evaluate your plant managers by giving subordinates an anonymous questionnaire. You might find out more than you'd expect to really help your bottom line.

Good Pay and Benefits but terrible company

Route Sales Representative (Current Employee)
Harrisburg, PA

I have been working at Bimbo Bakeries full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPay and Benefits, every sunday off

Conswork 12 to 14 hour days, start time was midnight. Management was terrible, I have had at least 5 bosses in 3 years. Job security is very poor, August they just laid off 6 route drivers. They forced all Holsum bread drivers to buy a route or they were fired. Poorly ran company that does not care about their employees. You do have holidays off but the you better be ready to work an 16 to 18 hour to make up all the work. Terrible place to work, Ive never recommend this company to anyone, I wish the CEO could see how poorly it is ran in Harrisburg.
