I worked at Binder and Binder full-time

    Pros

Advocating for disabled persons who desperately need help and fund from Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income can be rewarding work.

    Cons

Micro-management, Draconian workplace policies, HR is highly incompetent at times particularly with case workers. As Jr. Advocates your given a great deal of responsibility with none of the benefits afforded to attorney's - your monitored by managers with less qualifications who don't understand workplace.

    Advice to Management

Less micromanagement, stop clocking people in and out of work, and the culture should change. This would increase the level of retention on high quality employees.

I have been working at Binder and Binder full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun people to work with - it's a really great bunch of eccentric creative types.

    Cons

The company is constantly training new workers to replace all the ones that leave - having more than a year's experience makes you one of the senior employees. The pay isn't great, there aren't any kind of bonuses, and expect a tiny raise if you do manage to survive over a year.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees a living wage and you wouldn't have to constantly deal with training new ones!

    Pros

Experience to put on a resume, easy to get a job there.

    Cons

Let's just say all of us in the hearing dept would refer to how much time we had in like it was a prison sentence.

    Advice to Management

Start looking for a new job, the CO has filed for chapter 11 protection, and soon all the slaves will be set free.

I have been working at Binder and Binder full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Noting useful but it's a job

    Cons

overwhelming amount of work load for caseworkers. Avg start is $12.50 per hour (not nearly enough for what the employee has to deal with. The company cut nearly 50% office locations/employees due to filing for bankruptcy."Are you making me MY money" CEO Charles Binder once said to our appeals dept staff

    Advice to Management

    Told ya

    Pros

Good to use on your resume to get another job

    Cons

They toss you to other departments against your will, favoritism, unprofessional supervisors, HR and Union are worthless, management is horrible, no encouragement or incentive for the employees

    Advice to Management

You're not all that. Start being human and maybe you wouldn't have such a high turnover of employees. Start watching what goes on in there and how some people take advantage. Recognize who the dedicated employees are and treat them better. stop making anyone a supervisor

I worked at Binder and Binder full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They follow the Willie Lynch letter. Managers scream at case workers and I've heard case workers say yes sir and mam to.supervisors.

    Cons

They fired this black lesbian who was so polite and well.dressed. They are RACIST and HOMOPHOBIC. Very punitive and racist atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Have sensitivity training and more reward systems. During training, be fair and do not have some individuals filing for a month while others file for 3 days if they are both case workers. It's abusive. Stop creating a dog eat dog atmosphere and create one of respect and tolerance. Stop hazing co workers who are.different because they do have power and will sue you.

    Pros

This position offers lots of travel, management, and hearing experience for young advocates/attorneys. The position allows you to put in the extra effort if you are self-motivated rather than motivated by reward, praise, promotion, etc. The office took care of its best people and tried to keep regular promotions on the table. The office was very collegial as advocates/attorneys bonded over working at 10 p.m. on Friday nights, etc. Lots of conference travel and CLE opportunities.

    Cons

Not a good time to be in Social Security and certainly not with a company that has filed for BK. Definitely large-scale management and operational issues that may be irreparable in the current market. Some negative reputation among ALJ, other attorneys, other firms.

    Advice to Management

The imaginary and unnecessary divide between attorneys and staff is very destructive. Staff would get in trouble for socializing with advocates or attorneys?

I worked at Binder and Binder (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is not one pro thing I can say about this company

    Cons

Low pay with no benefits and supervisors who are best friends who look out for each other is not for a great work environment especially when one thinks more higher of themselves when they are not

    Advice to Management

Learn to respect your workers and then you would get better work out of people

    Pros

    Getting off work at 5:30

    Cons

Everything about this job was terrible. The attorneys, management, workload, lunch and the PAY (or lack thereof) The employees don't have to undergo a drug test OR background check... and they are dealing with Social Security number ALL DAY!

    Advice to Management

Hope you are working in one of the 5 major offices by the end of 2015. THE REST WILL BE CLOSED OUT OF BANKRUPTCY!
