    Pros

Lab is very flexile great for vacations as you get 3 weeks vacation after 2 years of employment pay is ok not the best

    Cons

There isn't much room for growth. Most techs leave after a year or two. It's either find a new job or be stuck on the bench with little to no raise for years

    Advice to Management

Help train in different areas of the lab. Since turnover is so high the least they can do is train in multiple areas to give a better opportunity to the people who are there for the long haul

I worked at Bio-Reference Labs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great! Flexible work schedule IF they choose. That's about the only pros to the company. It would of been nice to be able to say more but NO!

    Cons

Management does not know how to do their job! Way too much gossip, jealousy and greed. No matter what you do if someone doesn't agree with it then there will be confrontation! They have ridiculous policies that only apply to certain people which is pointless if it's supposed to be a "company" policy!

    Advice to Management

Learn to be a manager and worry more about the work and how to get it done properly instead of petty things and jealousy! Learn to mange time because way too many accounts were written off because it wasn't done in a timely manner!

    Pros

    Company party, campus like area.

    Cons

Everything else! This company uses homebrewed software, There is NO training to use said software. The VP's of the IT departments rely on their managers. The managers are over worked and don't have an sense of where their reports stand on their understanding of their software. They make you shadow someone, who knows as much as someone who just started a week prior. They make you sign and date SOP's wiithout allowing questions to be asked. The manager of the LAB IT department hs NO IDEA how to manage a team. Doesn't know how to speak to people, doesn't like questions directed to him and will crap on his employees to prove a point. He doesn't trust anyone on his own team, which is why he does everything on his own, working 24 hours a day a times due to lack of training. His employees overnight are know to have girls over, drink on the job, work out of hookah bars, and generally are not responsive when i comes emails or assistence needed in the lab. This is a walking lawsuit waiting to happen, anyone reading this looking for employment here needs to walk around with a recording device to prove their innocence or simply bring it to a lawyer and sue these guys for lying and setting people up for failure. There is absolutely no opportunity for growth, if you come into the lab as a Tech 1, you will stay a tech one for 5 years before they even look at your and lets not forget the .05 cent raises every year!

    Advice to Management

Quit and let someone competent do your job. Train your team properly. Lay off the booze. Lay off the Drugs. Lay off the hookers that are brought in to the offices after hours.

Flexible, fun, relaxed. Room for advancement if you work hard. Awesome benefits

    Cons

I really have nothing negative to say and I've been there over 12 years. You have petty nonsrmdr like any other office environment but nothing out of the morm

  6. A fairly redundant job that should be viewed as a means to pay the bills and not as a career.

    Pros

It had a high school atmosphere where everyone knew each other and certain fun cliques would form. Laid back in terms of coming to work on time, call outs, etc.

    Cons

Too much gossip at the workplace. Some people are downright rude as some would not greet you as you walk past them. The graveyard shift is not fun.

    Cons

Full time coverage for Phelbotomist. Less sales Representative setting up what the lab personnel can do. Need a stat lab in Houston and Reference Lab

    Advice to Management

The need to have a full service lab in the Houston Texas area to be competitive.

I have been working at Bio-Reference Labs full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great medical benefits, Life Insurance policies, Dental insurance, work schedule flexibility, comfortable environment for the employee as well as the patient in the patient service center.

    Cons

My only challenge I've experienced is being cut throated by other employees through gossip. Too much caddiness & pettiness among the employee & employers. Too much favoritism. Raises are a joke. Communication between supervisors & managers with the plebs are horrible.

    Advice to Management

When hiring supervisors & managers to run this company, there needs to be more acknowledged potential persons who are fair to all & not just speaking down to their employees with disrespect.

I worked at Bio-Reference Labs part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoyed the customers/patients. No better or worse than any other laboratory as far as workload is concerned.

    Cons

Company has many management issues. Particularly on the supervisory level. Cannot keep a capable supervisor for phlebotomy. Last one was fired and the latest is a nightmare. Had problems with short checks and long resolution times.

    Advice to Management

Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and hold supervisors accountable for their actions.
