    Pros

Creative team atmosphere and culture. Support for modern technology and work tools.

    Cons

Nature of the lab/office market and reporting to Wall Street creates intense pressure for unrealistic levels of operational efficiency and reporting precision, resulting in vast work/life imbalance.

    Pros

Incredible benefits, which most other companies couldn't compete with, but the base salary was low for the amount of work. Overall, friendly people and casual environment.

    Cons

Most departments didn't have much of a work/life balance and not all departments were the same as far as corporate culture. Management wouldn't discuss pay range for the position, which made it hard to know how far you could go within your current job.

    Advice to Management

Have transparency - make it clear of where you stand for your role and how to work your way up in the company. Use the semi-annual self review to listen to your employees to make constructive changes.

    Pros

Great company instilled with the values of its founder. Treats employees very well and values a work/life balance. The industry the company services (life sciences) is growing and they are well positioned to continue to do well.

    Cons

As the company grows, you may find yourself pigeon-holed into a certain position. Know exactly what job description you are signing up for

    Pros

Good benefits, great annual holiday party.

    Cons

This was a great company in its infancy but has grown into one where nepotism, office politics, and bureaucracy are the norm. The corporate culture has changed, resulting in an atmosphere of harrassment and bullying. Long hours are expected with little regard for work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

Competition and political in-fighting amoung upper management executives have resulted in inconsistent policies and procedures, ever-changing priorities, negativism, and favoritism. The team-building events are great and a lot of fun, but do not translate into the every-day work arena.

Average but will never be good place to work due to narrow job focus and bad culture that leads to high turnover

    Pros

Large office space, nice benefits, pay for cost of living, company succeeds despite itself due to nature of REITs, current capital markets and niche in real estate industry

    Cons

Long hours, average to high turnover for industry, narrow job focus due to size of company and bureaucracy, strong underlying politics due to passive/aggressive culture starting from the top, lack of career upside as evidenced by internal surveys (management will tell you they are making progress but they continue to hire externally for higher positions as they grow)

    Advice to Management

Be honest to job seekers about the lack of career upside if you are going to eventually hire someone above them externally and get rid of bad managers that mislead about employee development aspect of experience

    Pros

Great benefits, casual business attire, good pay, lots of drinking parties if you like to drink

    Cons

Accounts payable does not operate well. After working there for a year I found the employees in that department are disengaged in their work, unmotivated and spend the majority of their time on the instant messenger rather than working. There is no desire to do a "great job" in that department. The group is very "clicky" and focuses more on their social activities rather than work. There is no passion for their work in that group.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the performance of your department. What are they working on? Seeing how they communicate with others is a reflection of their motivation and desire to do a good job. While I was there I saw unethical business behavior. Too much gossiping and not enough work gong on there. Management is not paying attention and these girls know it. They get away with poor conduct and treat coworkers poorly. Executives do not want to work with the AP department because they are so disengaged in their work down there. It is a mess in AP. Get them to love their jobs again, motivate them. Since when is doing your homework on the job instead of your work allowed? Is this the right behavior?
