    Pros

Great opportunities; forefront of the industry; lots of very talented people; fair pay if you know how to negotiate; Alain Mérieux cares.

    Cons

Politics (us vs. them); too many lifers/cruisers make for a stale environment of bickering and personal vendettas at management level; too much entitlement among leadership despite restrictions; Alain Mérieux withdrew as CEO.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote team work and eradicate individualism (me, myself and I) at management level. Some don't see passed their bottom-line and will run anyone over to get theirs.

I worked at Biomerieux USA full-time

    Pros

Overall this is a solid company that has good products and good general training. It's an international company and people have been able to move into other positions which is good. The benefits are fantastic and my experience with HR was good. I liked who I worked with also and they're sharp individuals.

    Cons

Metrics, metrics, metrics. Like most corporations it seems metrics rule the day. This leads for some of the best people that should be promoted left in the dust for people who know how to "work the numbers." Detailed job-specific training is lacking and communication between departments is scattered. Big decisions get held up at headquarters in France and backlogs things for the US side. Products are released before support staff is trained leading to confusion from clients and employees bewildered and unable to help. This is a solid company but suffers from communication, poor structure of departments and lack of promoting the right people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look past the metrics to find solid leaders who may not get perfect numbers but are better leaders. Recognize that some people have lots of information but are not teachers. Develop more job-specific training and have dedicated trainers so it does not interrupt support staff that are already very busy with calls. Hold back product launches until staff is trained to eliminate confusion. Again having dedicated trainers will help this process. Take sales goals out of support staff metrics that are tied to bonuses. This makes no sense and causes a lot of stress. Don't launch a product without having people FULLY trained to support it. There's nothing more frustrating than supporting a product you're not trained on and no one is available to help. Hire dedicated evening shift employees to cover on-call coverage. Using your day shift employees, hassling with schedules and on-call pay, vacations and shortages is too much of a headache. There are plenty of people that would take the benefit of working from home to work in the evening. Find them and train them and you will not only eliminate a lot of hassle but boost morale a great deal in support.

    Pros

Good benefits and some nice people to work with. The company over all could be a nice place to work.

    Cons

No training or follow through, worst management with lack of support. Mafia style leadership "keep your mouth shut or your gone" attitude. Harassment by senior operators and group lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start with a good CEO and fire all managers . Fresh start.

I worked at Biomerieux USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent base and training. Allowed to keep travel reward points (hotel & air)

    Cons

Commission never paid on time. Too focused on admin related metrics which don't necessarily correlate to success (reports, expenses. Etc) . #of meeting per day quota is useless and mandatory travel is waste of company resources and not always best use of time.
Horrible work life balance with 4+ days a week on the road

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate more on % to budget and sales success and less on insignificant job metrics. Allowing acct mgrs to run their own territory how they see fit would lead to less travel, less expenses and happier employees.
