I worked at Biomet 3i full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked in 5 different positions during my tenure and enjoyed elements of each one. 3 weeks paid vacation per year foe years 1-10. I only left the company due to an out-of-state move.

    Cons

Things have changed greatly since 2003 when I started. Insurance has gone downhill significantly. the industry itself is very economically dependent, when the economy took a dive the company suffered greatly

    Recommends

    I worked at Biomet 3i full-time

    Pros

Good people to work with. Your peers and managers want you to succeed.

    Cons

Multiple changes with upper management over the past few years and lost the core values of what used to make B3i great. Merger announced with Zimmer acquisition creates a lot of uncertainty in the future direction of B3i employees. Always trying to get leaner and more efficient to cut back on the bottom line which leads to increased responsibility and stress with less compensation and reduced benefits annually.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate those that do more and get back to taking care of the internal and external customers that lead to all the initial growth that B3i used to have.

I have been working at Biomet 3i full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay and Benifits are good. Clean decent facility . Alot of nice people on the floor wiling to help and give advice.

    Cons

Management was top heavy. Continually hiring Engineers for everything under sun. Constantly changing stuff around on the floor for the machinist only to have it fail in a few months. Then hiring another engineer to try something else. Rinse and repeat over and over again. Never would they listen to people they had on the floor making them the money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Thin the herd in management..

I have been working at Biomet 3i

    Pros

Salary matches it's market value. This is how they try to compensate high turnover for the last couple of years.

    Cons

The place is a showcase of all elements working together to achieve failure. Failure seems to be the ONLY defined goal. They have HUGE FDA compliance issues. Managers lack basic skills like delegating, resource allocation and task assignment. Hostile and tense environment. Lack of communication and motivation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people. Get out from your area and start gathering feedback about actual situation.

I have been working at Biomet 3i full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great inside customer service. Decent products. Return of fabulous Senior Management.

    Cons

Unqualified Regional managers with lack of motivational people skills, leadership courses or continuing management training, and no MBAs. Good selling does not equal good managing. Tired boys network that doesn't recognize talent development.
Out of date pricing within the dental technology market.
    Losing market share.
Lack of state training or promotion.
Senior Management has no checks & balances on whether the RMs are doing their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the sales results and rebuild your Regional Managers with fresh, motivating, leaders.

I have been working at Biomet 3i full-time

    Pros

Only implant company that's manufactured in the US. Some great reps...decent pay.

    Cons

Management has taken a toll for the worse. Poor management skills and company morale is in the gutter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Incentivize the sales force instead of finding ways to cut their commissions

    I worked at Biomet 3i full-time

    Pros

Salary matches industry range, good benefits, good co-workers
many backgrounds to learn from diverse network of employees

    Cons

    outdated systems and methods
poor project management and poor time management
too many managerial and non-value added positions
    can't break silos in department
Very low increases, no incentives or recongnitions
Use to be very family- oriented and fun, now low company morale prevails with uncertainty about future
company making profit, but still having layoffs of much needed non-manager/exec resources...poor resource management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

revisit company mission and quality policy, review vision and goals...review org chart, cut the fat and get back to quality policy.
