I worked at Biomet as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Awesome Co-op program -- great if you are looking to develop skills as an engineer

    Cons

As much as i loved Biomet and the people... i don't think i would be able to live in Warsaw, IN without going crazy

I worked at Biomet as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    1. Highly intelligent coworkers: I learned a lot every day during my time at Biomet.
    2. Relaxed environment: Family-like atmosphere in the workplace, with dress codes that allow shorts and sandals.
    3. Every one worked not only for themselves, but also to help develop the company.

    Cons

Sometimes the relaxed environment can make it hard when you are trying to get something done because people can come up to your cube and spend a good 15 minutes to chat.

I have been working at Biomet full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The salary is higher on average than most companies in the area. You really can make a difference and suggest new ideas which will be considered!

    Cons

Due to the nature of medical companies there are lots of restrictions from the legal sectors, Bomet tends to be more cautious then other similar companies in the same sector! There are areas/departments that tend to have there own click! And the company as a whole does not have a uniform structure - To many chiefs and too much politics!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open be willing to change and let areas go that you don't have professional experience in and embrace the change!

    I worked at Biomet

    Pros

Pay was hardly above satisfactory for an engineer. Casual dress code (although there people looking like slobs somedays)

    Cons

Terrible upper management. Supervisors provided no guidance, unclear goals, and boring repetitive work. This is not a job for an engineer, maybe for someone with an associates who has no idea what to do in life. Work is trivial and you will get bored as soon as the 2nd day of working there. Not worth living in Warsaw, IN.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please figure out better ways of managing your entire complaints department. It seems as if this department is falling down the drain due to lack of direction. Also find the time to actually train your employees instead of them scheduling training times for you.

I have been working at Biomet full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Team oriented atmosphere, relaxed and collaborative environment. Challenging and very fast-paced.

    Cons

Since merger announcement, information is more closely guarded and atmosphere is already changing. Unfocused decision making and unrealistic expectations of what can be accomplished in a short time period.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting like nothing will change and be more realistic in you expectations. Your employees are not as naive as you seem to think!

    I worked at Biomet

    Pros

Relaxed dresscode and many still work as a team. Opportunity to learn different areas of opperations and business practices.

    Cons

Big corporate environment. Some positions assume you are available 24/7 and penalize if you are not (during vacation or medical leave). Pay is ok for the area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hiring and advancement opportunities of females needs to improve. Corporate culture still maintains a glass ceiling and only has a couple of females in top-level positions as well as all through-out the company.

Heavily focused on engineering and design. Great co-op program.

I have been working at Biomet as an intern

    Pros

Very hands-on work experience and close connection with the clients. Fantastic work atmosphere with very approachable and sensible people in leadership roles.

    Cons

The major downside is location, particularly in the winter season. The only real activity is attending the local YMCA. The company was recently acquired which may alter the company atmosphere; however, it may also bring together some major talent that will better the field of orthopedics.
