Current Employee – been working at Black & Veatch full-time for more than a year
Pros – There were no pros of working for this company.
Cons – The Federal Division is located in a "sick building". The ventilation system is extremely old and they won't replace it. Everyone is sick all the time in this building. The management are terrible and extremely unprofessional and create a very hostile work environment. The finance department had a 75% turnover in the 18 months I worked there! You don't want to work there!
Advice to Senior Management – Change the managers. Teach them that it is extremely inappropriate to walk around asking, "Who can I fire today? A hostile work environment is created when managers are flipping the bird at their employees and making derogatory comments on a regular basis. Employees don't want to stay where they are treated with such disrespect!

Former Employee – worked at Black & Veatch full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – competitive salary and benefits, co-workers are team oriented.
Cons – Virtually no upper management support, limited resources, very fast paced with ever changing policies, little to no training on new procedures and policies that management demands you execute immediately.
Advice to Senior Management – Make available the required resources needed for the middle management teams to succeed. Implement procedures that make the employees confident that their efforts are appreciated instead of the current feeling that their efforts are never enough. This in itself may help change the company turnover rate, which is one of the highest in the country.
