I worked at BlackBerry as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Fantastic workplace, great people to work with and passionate! Lots of perks as a Coop student too, I learned a lot, this experience was a boost on my resume!

    Cons

It wasn't possible to get a full time position at the end of my internship even if it went really well! This is due to to downsizing...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management in 2011 didn't made the greatest decision and investments. They lost lots of market.

I worked at BlackBerry as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Fast paced, high productivity, good experience and benefits

    Cons

Organization is broken down into teams that compete with each other. Creates many conflicts and is not efficient when delivering a single product.

Tension between teams comes at a high cost. Working there requires a high stress tolerance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get rid of teams.

I worked at BlackBerry full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It has a good working environment with nice people and many resources, work/life balance is OK, compensation is good. Employee has some oppotunity to be involved in new technologies and improve.

    Cons

Sometime the communication between groups is not good enough to carry out big projects. Management can be too conservitive/protective/political to take actions. Projects can be delayed/cancelled easily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Organization structure is complex and not clear, thus less people is taking responsibilities. Maybe the new management can take responsibility/actions to turn it into a profitable/active organization.
