    Pros

Great pay for hard work through a true meritocracy. Extremely smart and talented employees. Professional yet vibrant work environment. Ample opportunities for career advancement and international/domestic relocation. Excellent technology and resources at your disposal.

    Cons

24/7 Blackberry culture. Longer hours. Becoming slightly bureaucratic as they grow.

    Advice to Management

Loved my job and would be happy to return in the future. Don't change!

    Pros

A high respected company with a solid reputation, experienced leadership, good work environment, competitive salary, great benefits.

    Cons

Work/Life balance can be a challenge. Leadership is not always transparent when it comes to outlining the companies plans.

    Pros

The best things from my work at Blackrock are vacation and life work balance. Also, I feel that having Blackrock in your resume can help you in this tight market for jobs in finance.

    Cons

Unfortunately there is no career development at Blackrock, you can be stuck at your current role for years without learning anything new. You can apply for other roles inside the company, but if you do not get the job you could damage your possible promotion with your current manager...

    Advice to Management

Really try to help employees to grow their careers instead of giving the impression that you are doing something. Blackrock is a very political firm where some of the investment teams are more worried about internal promotions.

    * Talented and friendly colleagues * Very supportive of internal mobility * Good work life balance (depending on office and department)

    Cons

    * Cowboy approach to technology project implementation * Compensation rarely reflects your yearly performance

    Advice to Management

Be clear on what you expect from your employers, their role and what they can do to succeed.

    Pros

Very interesting work being done in machine learning. Very technical.

    Cons

It could have better perks to compete with tech companies.

    Pros

Quite Challenging in a positive way and Management wants your BEST!!

    Cons

No free lunches!! It's almost impossible for IT people to move into Business side.

    Advice to Management

Spend some money on Employee Anniversaries, Group Celebrations and Cheer and Boost Employee Morale. Setup programs that will encourage as well prepare dedicated Non Investment Employees into Business.

    Pros

Successful global leader. Opportunity to learn in a complex industry. Good salaries and bonuses. Friendly, positive staff. Energetic work environment.

    Cons

New York based/biased with a focus on growth through standardization and automation. If you're located beyond the traditional northeast home office the the end-game for this company may be to make your job redundant as quickly as possible. There is a longstanding goal to absorb San Francisco functions over to New York. Senior New York management will schedule standing meetings with SF staff at 6AM PT (rather than say, 9AM PT) to remind you that they can.

    Advice to Management

Make a greater effort to measure the benefits and costs value of local expertise and experience before stripping them down.

    Pros

Free coffee, flexible timings, good amount of time for vacation.

    Cons

I took the courage of being good and worked many after hours with the aim of getting a good year end bonus. In the mid year, I realized that my juniors were making higher salary than myself. Tried negotiating and when realized that nothing can be done now, I took extreme step of resigning immediately.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for hiring me, but I have delivered manifold times more than you have ever paid me. I just wish you best.

    Pros

Great place to learn and grow. Plenty of room to maneuver a full-time career in IT. Not on cutting edge, but has a wide birth of technology.

    Cons

You have to be willing to conform and play the game. Seeing something needs to change, however, it cannot be changed unless upper management comes up with the idea for change. Otherwise, you're stuck doing the same antiquated procedures for 5 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the minions, those in the trenches have a better understanding of the company as a whole. Rather than the high level view from above.
