Pros
- Great inclusive culture
- Exposure to many different clients
- Collective responsibility
- Great management
- Great communication about all that's going on across the entire company
- Really cool HR programs/initiatives for employees to participate in
Cons
- Expect to work hard
- Expect to multi task if you want additional opportunity to progress
- Fast paced environment that can seem kind of hectic at times
Pros
A lot of smart, dedicated people running the company.
A great diversification strategy being implemented between pro services and proprietary product development.
Everyone around me is very talented, and very dedicated.
Clients come first, but they treat the employees extremely well around here.
Creative HR group who continues to come up with cool new incentive and recognition programs year after year.
Cons
Still a relatively small company, so there are obvious limitations in terms of geographic reach and how fast they can grow.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep investing in your best people, we deserve it and it will continue to fuel the company's growth. Keep looking for more diversification opportunities and new challenges, you've got a lot of great smart people ready to do whatever it takes to jump to the next level as a services and a product company!
Pros
Strong leadership team, nice people, solid business model, smart employees at all levels, great working culture and a relentless focus on the customer's needs. Enormous degree of integrity throughout the company.
Highly recommend Blackstone as a place to work -- I only left because I wanted to do something else.
Cons
Challenging to find talent to meet the workload -- good problem to have though.
Advice to Senior Management
Continued communication and engagement among the rank-and-file: discover & leverage their insights ongoing to evolve your strategy, get new ideas or improve existing ones.

Cons
Autonomy to pursue your interests can be challenging at times
Self directed career development and training requires extra dedication and follow through
Pros
- fairness of the review process
- ability to learn outside of your expertise area and grow professionally if you take initiative
- great staff benefits and perks
- great carreer opportunities and job development
- great people, very good methodology
- great management
Cons
- mentoring with the senior management is challenging due to their heavy work schedules so getting one on one time is hard
- you need to be at the client's site most of time and are usually going to work over time
Advice to Senior Management
Always look to do more for your employees
Pros
Great for professional development.
Emphasis on taking ownership and leadership.
The people are very smart, and there is a lot of room for growth in the firm.
Training is available for the practical things you need to learn and compensation is competitive.
Cons
The firm does demand a lot of you....in addition to your project work you will be expected to put in time on proposals/building solutions/recruiting, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand that not all within the firm wish to put their nights/weekends in to contributing to firm initiatives. Many do, yet not everyone.
Pros
These guys are straight shooters. They say what they do, and do what they say. Refreshing.
Didn't know what to expect because it was my first complete year of being a part of the company, but I was very happy with the bonus and raises they offered at the end of last year. Generous and fair (because I worked very hard to earn every bit of it) would be how I describe it, and a few of my colleauges have mentioned something similar.
No joke though, everyone works very hard around here. It's just nice to be in a company that actually delivers for you after you have delivered for them! Not so easy to find out there.
Cons
Hard projects and demanding clients.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay in tune with your employees, and this will continue to be a wildly successful company. People love who they work with here, and the more you can do to encourage collaboration and communication the better.
Pros
Challenging work, and that's not just my experience, I've heard the same on both Coasts.
Progressive minded leadership, not afraid to take risk and move in new directions.
Paid well, and well respected.
Good support and recognition for a job well done here. I feel like I've been rewarded for my hard work and my loyalty to the company over the years.
Cons
Hours can be long and you don't have a lot of say in terms of which project you have to go to.
There are a few bad managers here, and it sucks when you are on their projects. Just hope you don't get them!
Advice to Senior Management
There's always more that can be done to recognize and grow all of the talent you have in your company, so please don't ever get complacent.
Pros
Mgmt gets "it" here
Work hard and play hard(er)
Great culture, great people, great projects
Focused on growth, and advancement, but not at any cost (at least not yet)
Cons
It's consulting, so you know what you're getting into when you take the job. You are going to be challenged, sometimes in the right way, but sometimes it's going to be a little uncomfortable.
They demand that you stay focused, and they are bent on making every project successful. This translates into they don't accept excuses for not delivering on client expectations. It's nice to be a part of a winning team, but it comes at a cost sometimes when the pressure is on you to learn and deliver.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep being willing to take on smart risk through continued investment in your employees, and their ideas, in addition to all of the ideas you are coming up with.
Pros
A "great place to start your career" sounds like a cliche and it is, but I feel like it's the truth here. I know without a doubt I can go and work for any other company based on the experiences I've already had and will have with BTG.
Salary is great compared to other consulting firms.
There is a backlog of projects for us to tackle which is good and bad. Exciting work, but there is pressure to deliver results from day one and make the client successful so you can go work on the next project.
Cons
I can tell that advancement and progress is nobody's responsibility but your own in this environment. While some can see this as a good thing (if you are really talented and driven), but there's no real safety net to fall on if you fail. You're in control of your own career.
Advice to Senior Management
Coming in as a new hire "on the beach" can be very hard to real "professionals" who've come in excited and ready to work, just to be told to train, study, and network for the two to three weeks or so. So figuring out a better way to get someone on board and staffed up on a project sooner rather than later would be a big help to those who want to hit the ground running.
