    Pros

As an intern, you have a heavy and strenuous workload but you get to learn a lot in a really fast-paced setting from smart and talented people. The culture at B&O is awesome, and there are many themed lunch events, after work happy hours and fun activities. For the most part, the people there are fun and easy to get along with. It is also a nice office space and everyone gets their own Mac laptop.

    Cons

The internship program is very poorly structured and unorganized. Throughout my internship which lasted 6+ months, i had only ONE performance review and had no idea where I was in terms of my progression. The company as a whole is highly political and the management team seemed to play favorites when it came to the junior staff. There was also a lack of transparency and it seemed like any important information in the office was a secret and kept behind closed doors. The work/life balance is poor compared to other agencies and the promotions are very slow since they are part of the larger WPP. While talented, the management team lacked experience and handled some situations poorly and unprofessionally.

    Advice to Management

The internship program needs more structure and organization. There needs to be more transparency within the office.

    Pros

Very detail-orientated agency with strict review processes and high expectations - forces you to learn quickly on the job and sets up a strong foundation for a career in PR. Great client roster that is continually growing and marquee accounts that are great to get experience working on.

    Cons

Highly political - part of larger H&K and WPP network which equates to slow promotions, while they're working to deliver decent 'soft' benefits (i.e. work from home days, day off for your birthday, snacks, etc.), they are falling behind with salaries, bonuses and promotion opportunities. Toxic work environment with a lot of office gossip, condescending behavior, unfriendly competitiveness and out of touch senior management. Long hours, low pay and promotions not based on merit. Tend to micromanage mid-level and entry-level employees stunting opportunities for growth and forward momentum. A lot of time spent reporting, forecasting, etc. - very little time spent delivering real results.

    Pros

    great clients, stable, always growing

    Cons

office culture, overworked, no work/life balance, slow promotions and raises, no bonuses

    Advice to Management

focus on current employees and their happiness over winning new clients. new clients won't be happy if their account teams are stretched too thin

  6. Really nice people but competitive environment, too focused on process & not on results

    Pros

Great at teaching the basics; very detail oriented so you learn how to have eagle eyes and do things right; everyone is friendly and caring, funny

    Cons

Air of mistrust, tons of micromanaging, super competitive environment, no training, morale is mediocre, agency is pretty risk adverse, lots of talk about "messaging and positioning" but when it comes to driving BIG results, the agency lacks. There's no drive to network in the industry.

    Advice to Management

TRUST your employees to do a good job; give them room to grow; don't constantly ask to see everything they do, let them MANAGE projects - even at the more junior level. Take more risks, be creative, and don't underestimate the power of BIG media hits.

    Pros

The people and opportunities to advance your career. The team here is very supportive of creative and proactive thinking. If you have a particular passion this is a place where you can go for it.

    Cons

Being boutique Blanc and Otus is pretty nimble, but sometimes being part of a larger organization can make decision making slower

    Pros

Unlike sister agency, H&K, B&O isnt a stuffy place to work. There were a few people who would make you feel welcomed and wanted, but many of them had left. It is an agency that invests in training. Met some of the most colorful characters in the PR world.

    Cons

Extremely political especially with new management team. Lots of favoritism and people were promoted when they don't really deserve it. Agency had lost its culture with the new management in place. High turnover at the mid-level. Great place to start one's career if you know how to play the political game... and if you can continue playing that game, you are guaranteed quick promotions.

    Advice to Management

CEO, while is an extremely nice guy, needs to be more hands on what's going on in each office rather than just passing the buck down to the GM and/or VPs.

    Pros

High standards - you get pushed to do things the right way
Responsibility - the senior team are happy for you to take on new responsibilities if you show you have what it takes
Fairness and collaboration - everyone tries hard (with a couple of notable exceptions) to work towards a common goal and help each other

    Cons

No slacking - it isn't a sweatshop, but there isn't much time for kicking back
Salaries - feels like we are falling behind the market and it seems increasingly hard to get a raise

    Advice to Management

You are doing most of the right things internally, but need a better profile outside of the company. More junior staff needed to take the pressure off
