Pleasant for a part timer

Lab Technician (Former Employee)
Bryan, TX

I worked at Blinn College part-time for less than a year

ProsFlexible, calm and friendly environment.

ConsLow pay and low office space.

Advice to Senior ManagementA higher budget would increase employee satisfaction for both employees and students.

Adjunct Professor

Adjunct Professor (Former Employee)
Brenham, TX

I worked at Blinn College as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsGreat Communication among other part timers! Lots of help from other adjunct team members.

Consoffice space for adjunct professors severely lacking in equipment, technical support and space. Not kept clean and often found that we cleaned it ourselves. Just not supportive for folks who were not considered full time. Would rather hire cheaper adjuncts, than to take full time hires and worry with benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at the part time help you are taking advantage of with lesser pay. We work as hard as full time staff and without the benefit of job security. We bring a lot of experience and positive energy! Hire us!

Easy laid back experience but not a lot of room for growth.

Learning Center Assistant (Current Employee)
Bryan, TX

I have been working at Blinn College

ProsIt has a very laid back environment, with very friendly people. The work is not difficult, and time can fly by when you are there.

ConsIt can be understaffed at times, adding to your individual assignments. At times it can also get a little dull making the day go extremely slow

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer small promotions to workers after a year or 6 months on the job. Make sure that all shifts are properly staffed.

Blinn is a great school, this position is very taxing.

Housing Coordinator (Former Employee)
Brenham, TX

I worked at Blinn College

ProsEasy workload
Free during the day for the most part
Spring break, Winter Break and summer off and paid
Essentially no supervision or micromanagement

ConsOn call 24/7
Work 7-midnight 7 days a week
low pay
Dealing with many disrespectful, "thug" wannabe kids
meetings early in the morning that last for hours after long nights of dealing with hooligan kids
job seems insignificant

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of every Housing Coordinator position and have only 1-3 higher paying property management positions for the entire housing department. Pay these people well and have them actually do work as opposed to being on campus all the time "just in case". Weekends need to be off, with multiple RA's to take the disciplinary responsibility away from the property management positions.
