    Pros

    Focus on continuous improvement throughout the company. Willing to listen and adopt new ideas and change. Casual dress environment.

    Cons

    Outdated office equipment and technology for office workers. Sometimes slow at adopting change. Office next to warehouse could be loud due to stamping presses. Outdated bathrooms.

    I worked at Block And Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Most of the positives of working for Block and Company disappeared when Greg Carlson left the company. He carried the vision and kept everyone working for the same goals and gave people something to believe in.

    Cons

    Block and Company has tremendous lack of vision and leadership for the future. Only the mediocre employees have stayed and are rewarded for mediocre ideas and a lack of results. Morale is very low, giving rise to increased turmoil between departments. There is very little confidence in the leadership of John Lanman.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to figure out the core value proposition and mission of the company, and provide a strategy for the future. The multitude of mistakes made in past year need to be addressed and employees reassured about having a future with the company.

    Excellent leadership, especially with respect to industry knowledge.

    Cons

    Location doesn't have cache of other areas.

    The company does an outstanding job of looking forward. Senior management is constantly engaged in reviewing the market and is open ot making the necessary adjustments.

    Pros

    On the plus side the 401k program is great and there are some good people that work there but leadership isn't.
    Small enough where you don't feel like a number

    Cons

    There is potential as a company as whole as there is market penetration available and new business has never been sought after. The problem is that the Senior Leadership is completely out of touch with daily operations. Processes and Procedures and not properly implemented and the organization as a whole needs to be reworked. However, they run completely thin on personally, if there is a bad couple of months they go through reductions in force. I have seen three in this year. To boost profits the company just lets go of people and adds more responsibility to its current employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communication is key and is lacking. You have also created a fear based culture and success is never recognized or celebrated. Listen to your people and leverage the skills set of the people who do good work, reward them.
