Pros
able to rent movies for free from the store without worry of due dates and also very flexible for scheduling while in school.
Cons
asking for days off for important events is usually more difficult during the holidays but fair since management try to balance it out among everyone.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to your employees like normal people instead of demanding several things from them in order to get the desired results.
Pros
free rentals, mostly easy work
Cons
horrible benefits, low pay, incompetent corporate employees, low job security, long hours, little paid time off
Advice to Senior Management
Work-life balance is the most important aspect of any job.
Pros
free rentals and discounts on items
Cons
long hours, short breaks, no appreciation
Pros
The free movies were awesome. The people are nice if you give them what they want. Holy mother of God.
Cons
Everything else you can think of within a workplace typically doesn't co your wy when you work for Blockbuster Video.
Advice to Senior Management
I can offer no advice. Jump ship. That company is going down hard and fast. Get out while you can!
Pros
Free movies and games rentals. First look at new releases before the general public has access to them. Fairly easy work if you're not in management.
Cons
Corporate leaders don't seem to have a consistent vision -- new direction mandated to stores every two to three weeks. Too many demands on store management staff with not enough time to do everything. Often feels like you're chasing your own tail. Maintaining store profitability can feel like an afterthought in lieu of having to hit the sales "flavor of the week" goals.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow store management the time to develop their employees and run the store as if they own it. Back off from the weekly promotional sales targets. Overstressing sales targets instead of focusing on sustaining store profitability and customer loyalty is counterproductive.
Pros
Easy work and not bad if you enjoy movies and games, good to supplement school or another full-time job, not demanding in any ways,
Cons
Pay is low, and your really pushed to sell things despite not having much to push. Sometime management can really hurt the experience of the job, however I was gifted with good local management despite poor upper management
Advice to Senior Management
The big push in small things like candy sales is unnecessary, you would profit more by pushing deals on rentals which is the bread winner of the store.
Pros
10 Free Rentals a week and discount on store merchandise.
Cons
Poor Pay and lack of hiring etiquette. A lot of so-called managers were socially awkward and had poor attitudes. How could you hire people that have poor social/people skills? There are way to many in this retail company.
Advice to Senior Management
Screen employees more efficiently.
Pros
Benefits, rental perks, 401 k match.
Cons
Long hours, open on Christmas day, terrible communication from corporate.
Advice to Senior Management
Need new leadership!

- Free movie and game rentals (10) per week
- Good entry level opportunities
- Flexible schedules
- Given time off when needed for personal/school reasons
Cons
- Management was horrible
- Lots of Favoritism
- Not many Benefits
- Lots of budget Cuts
- Made you work on selling techniques, when the employees were not the problem. the company and it's philosophy was
Advice to Senior Management
NEED NEW MANAGMENT AND LEADERSHIP, ALSO...COME UP WITH A BETTER CONCEPT, RENTING A MOVIE FOR $7 IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE, NOT TO MENTION ALMOST $12 FOR GAME RENTALS AND ON TOP OF THAT, CUSTOMERS GET CHARGED LATE FEES!..NO IDEA WHERE ALL THAT MONEY WENT, I KNOW THE EMPLOYEE'S DIDN'T GET ANY (NO RAISES FOR 2 YEARS) ONLY REASON I STUCK WITH IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS 2 MINS AWAY FROM HOME
Pros
-Great place to start retail career.
-8 bucks an hour
-10 free rentals a week
-Very fun and interesting people to work with
Cons
-Management is always pushing you forward and rarely appreciates it
-Working in a dying company can become frustrating with budget cuts
Advice to Senior Management
Offer incentive programs, and do not consistently tell managers to meet their quota, as they do almost every day huh.
