Pros
The former glory of Blockbuster is gone, but the culture is still fun.
Cons
DISH is cheap. A number of business decisions appear to be based on quantity not quality.
Pros
Free rentals
There won't be a lot of times where you get stressed out
Cons
Gets really boring sometimes
the pay is bare minimum
The place I worked at was dusty and kinda dirty
Pros
movies and games candy and popcorn
Cons
work load and stress level high but fun
Advice to Senior Management
listen to your people more
Pros
good technology to work with
Cons
financial troubles limits my future with the company
Advice to Senior Management
get with with the times
Pros
free movies and games
people you work with are great people, will become good friends
not outside
Cons
PAY NOT WORTH ALL THE STUFF YOU HAVE TO DO
repetitive
management thinks customers want bundles or passes. LEAVE THEM ALONE AND GET MORE IN DEMAND MOVIES
no pay increases
treaded like a rag doll by DM
Advice to Senior Management
stop with all the promotions and try and build a system that is effective for the customers. Stop trying to make unrealistic goals for the stores. Annual pay increases and raises would increase moral and make people want to work harder. The fact that a lazy person makes the same thing as someone who works their butt off is a joke.
Pros
Cool Co-workers, and I enjoyed the free rentals and the customers were nice, and the hours were very flexible.
Cons
The franchise hired district managers were very mean and not in touch with the employees and looked down on them.
Advice to Senior Management
I would fire the district managers they have horrible attitudes and some times they do not even speak to the employees.
Pros
Great team that I worked with. The eviornment of the business dictated a lot of stress on everyone, but my team was great to work with.
Cons
Lack of communication, absolutely no respect of senior leadership. Seemed they just sat and watched the company demise.
Pros
The people are fantastic. Great teamwork.
Cons
Jim Keyes and Tom Casey. It's a shame they were allowed to destroy an iconic brand. They don't care who they hurt, so long as they got their cash bonuses. At least Casey left.
Advice to Senior Management
Jim Keyes - quit trying to convince us none of this is your fault and "we're all in the same boat".
Pros
Good Salary. Fun Place to Work when they weren't laying off.
Cons
Lay off's all the time. Very hard to move up the ladder.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to get over their EGOS
Pros
The group i worked was pretty cutting edge, management allowed me to bring the best technologies. If you are motivated it is a great place to learn new technologies and implement it. Few years back we had some of the best talent from the industry.
Cons
Brought in a low cost outsourcing company which caused all the good folks to leave. It has a become very low quality software development shop.
Advice to Senior Management
Kick the outsourcing companies and hire in house talent!
