    Pros

    -Good work /life balance.
    -Nice people
    -Great mission

    Cons

    -Hard to determine career path
-People have to leave for new opportunities in management to open up
-Pay seems low compared to other healthcare providers in the Milwaukee area

    Advice to Management

More performance reviews would be beneficial for staff growth. The annual reviews are rushed and need to occur on time.

    Pros

They give you the opportunity to work full time in a field of interest once you have graduated with your degree

    Cons

You are not eligible for raises. Most people do not respect you because you are "just a student worker". It is demoralizing and is not a good motivator.

    Pros

Flexibility, PTO, People to work with are absolutely great

    Cons

Pay is lower as compared to for-profit organizations, prospects of growth very limited

    Advice to Management

Hire from inside first, cost cutting is good but effective only to an extent.

    Pros

Great mission, feel like I am making a difference to help others.

    Cons

Horrible upper management. They do not know how to treat employees, I actually feel bullied at times. Only care about meeting goals that are not attainable. There is no work life balance. Those of us who work hard are taken advantage of by given higher goals and more work. This is an awful place to work.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. You can not expect us to continue to do more and more every year. Wake up, the good people are walking out the door and you do not seem to care.

    Pros

This is a company with a great mission, saving, improving the lives of patients in need.

    Cons

Unattainable goals. Great vacation benefits, but no time to use them and complete your job responsibilities. Unused vacation time is lost if you accumulate too much. I had 8 managers quit in 6 years time.

    Advice to Management

Please get out of your offices and see how hard your team is working in their job environment. Ask them for their advice on how to fix company problems, they know the problems and the solutions. Senior management is very qualified, however they are tied up in mandatory meetings so often, they have little time remaining to do the job they are assigned to do.

    Pros

very rewarding work, employees are very friendly and passionate about the organization, management cares about employees, convenient location in downtown milwaukee,

    Cons

It can be very stressful at times since the work that BloodCenter does directly impacts the patients in the community

    Advice to Management

Management in my department is wonderful. They really care about my professional growth, and they always provide me with positive feedback when it is deserved.

    Pros

They really do do good and save a lot of lives.

    Cons

No communication, no opportunities for advancement, low pay based on being "not for profit" yet making millions in profit. Management has not management training, therefore is horrible. Employees are treated with disrespect.

    Advice to Management

Take some management classes, just because you did the job twenty years ago does not qualify you to manage others when you have no people skills. Also, common business sense is lacking.
