    Pros

    - Laid back but very intelligent team. But the colleagues that I worked with were very friendly in general. - Lots of freedom in doing what you want to do, even though at the time I was not really used to it. - The managers seemed to care a lot about spending time with you. - Work/life balance

    Cons

    - Rigid structure - Mediocre Pay(which is understandable) - Low career prospects - The company seemed to be looked down upon by Bloomberg LP employees

    Advice to Management

Industry verticals should be fully integrated into the overall team; there still is so much misunderstanding between the teams and it could cause miscommunication.

    Pros

Interesting work, competent management and great colleagues. I joined when they were still a start-up and left not long after the Bloomberg acquisition. As a startup it was a vibrant, exciting place to be with a lot of young, bright and talented employees. Culture changed somewhat after the acquisition (to be expected) and quite a few people left. But they are very well respected in the industry, so I doubt they have a problem attracting talent.

    Cons

    Low pay, few advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

    Higher compensation, develop career paths.

    Pros

Smart and engaged employees, passion for the energy game, always a new initiative or product under development, fascinating world-changing content, great reputation among clients

    Cons

still some transition/growing pains as it evolves from a fiery startup to an operating division of a mature company like Bloomberg.

    Advice to Management

work on applying BNEF best practices to adjacent areas of Bloomberg; create more opportunities for analyst exposure and sales leadership.

    Pros

    - Gave me a chance although I didn't have much on my CV, beyond a university degree. - Full of clever people (do they hire anything other than Oxbridge students?) who are passionate about the energy industry and the challenges of moving to a low carbon future. - Very busy work environment - you're unlikely to get bored. - Part of the Bloomberg group and all the perks that go with it (nice office, a lot of media exposure, etc)

    Cons

    - Salaries are generally low and tailored to the type of people they hire ie, not very experienced. Staff turnover is quite high as most people leave after 2-3 year stints in the company. - The business has essentially stalled since its acquisition by Bloomberg in late 2009 owing to a very difficult environment (oversupplied European carbon market, focus away from climate change issues, etc). Don't expect great pay rises every year. - BNEF is sometimes biased about low carbon energy and keeps talking up the market - not always justified in my view. A lot of "predictions" for carbon price that we made over the years have proven wildly wrong.

    Pros

Very fast paced working environment so if you are a passionate person, this is the right place to work. Business developing includes the education on the market, so you will definately learn a lot about clean energy market. Meeting various kinds of people, lot of interactions

    Cons

Less team work and more individual works. There are no bonding between the team. Just come, work and go. Not much of career growth potential within this department.

    Advice to Management

Talk with the team members with open minded perspective. And try to understand the situation of the his/her's. There are no honest moment between manager and the team.

    Pros

Great coworkers, lots of opportunities to meet great people, fancy offices, interesting areas of research, great stepping stone for other career opportunities, lots of opportunities to steer one's own research and career

    Cons

Uncompetitive compensation, squirrely HR, part of a huge company run by really old people who don't abide by modern design and usability standards, people work like they're at a bank and talk like they're at a bank and serve bankers as clients but are payed like NGO employees

    Advice to Management

Pay people better, make sure advertised benefits packages are as "competitive" as made out to be
