It was a great place to work.

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) Bloomington, IN

ProsThe HR department was extremely helpful. People take pride in what they do and being professional. Education reimbursement.

ConsIt is a busy hospital. There are always opportunities to pick up extra hours, because there was often a need for more nurses.

IU Health Bloomington Hospital Company Review

IT Support (Former Employee) Bloomington, IN

ProsGood pay, good benefits, flexible time off and good PTO accounts

ConsPoor training, unless you're a nurse or directly patient care related, you're considered garbage.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out of your office and look into why so many people quit their jobs here. Treat your employees better; like a person and not like a number or dollar sign.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Favorite people to work with

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsI worked for my all-time favorite boss at Bloomington Hospital. I really liked almost all of the staff and the environment was so positive that the few negative people never really got to me.
I worked at a Promtpcare, doing more paperwork than work with clients and it was easy to get tied to your desk, but my admin encouraged getting up every so often for very quick breaks throughout the day. I LOVED that - Bloomington seems very concerned about the health of not only its patients, but its employees, too.

ConsI remember difficulty getting full time status with the coordinating benefit opportunities. It was kind of something you had to work towards. But mgmt. promoted where they could.

Expect to be overwhelmed, underpaid, with non-competitive benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsStability. One could devote 30 or more years there fairly easily. Weathers economic downturns well.

ConsThey are in a constant budget crisis, even long before the economy went south. Something is wrong with the budget model/process. Work/Life balance is bad. You don't have the feeling you can enjoy your time away from work because of the pressures. Many people in upper positions are too rooted in bygone methods and attitudes, making change extremely difficult.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement is not forward thinking enough and process is so slow as to be paralyzing. Younger individuals from outside of healthcare may help bring about change.

    Positive environment, and excellent co-workers.

    CT Technologist (Current Employee)

ProsPositive work environment and great co-workers.

ConsCafeteria food is good, but not enough rotation of selections.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what your doing and hiring the right people for the job.

    Depressing

    Registered Nurse (Former Employee)

ProsEncouraged to be proactive in committies

ConsVery 'clickish'. If you don't 'fit-it' you are shunned and evaluations are 'made up'.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember when you were just an 'employee'.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
